Since most of the Radio stations in the NYC Area play the same top 40 stuff, i decided to put on CBS FM. However i heard Born in the USA on CBS FM. When i think of oldies the years range from the doo wop era until the mid 70's.
Kinda makes you think when the #1 rapper is white and the #1 golfer is black
It's kind of like hearing U2 and Van Halen on the "classic rock stations".

CBS-FM is cutting back on the doo-wop music. They already got rid of the "Doo-Wop Shop" show.

I would think oldies music would be considered anything over twenty five years ago, so I'd say anything after 1978 would be pushing it

well, i think it all depends on your perspective. some of the people on this board were born in the late 80s, some possibly even in the 90s. to them, it very well may be

I think there is a bit of a formula. If a song is 20 years old, it's "Classic Rock". Once you pass that age, it's getting close to being an "Oldie".
In 1985, we were calling the Beatles, Zep, & The Stones "Classic Rock". They were all being played on classic rock stations. Stuff from the 50ies and early early 60ies was on Oldies stations.
By that logic; Songs from PYROMANIA, SYNCHRONICITY, and 90125 should be considered Classic Rock now. The Beatles & Zep can (and should) definitely be called Oldies now.

In the early 70's, Elvis and Chuck Berry were considered "oldies".
Time is a factor, but I think you've got to throw in style, too.

Metal Machine Music is nearly 30 years old, but it's still years ahead of our time.

That's what your parents said when they were playing 70's music in the 90's.

I wouldn't consider it good!!!
Why because it is not all about violence, and how much money you have, or why you have such a rough life being a spoiled friggin brat.
The 80's was about having fun.
I would not consider 80's music oldies, I consider 50's and 60's music oldies.
Thank you Ron and Fez for finally being live in DC again.
Ok let's get the boys back live in NY. Don't give up the fight.
