Try going into programs and uninstall it. It may work, I know this program is a real pain in the ass. I keep having to say "no". It's everywhere. I hope the person who started it gets an unfixable virus. Good luck.

get an anti spyware program a good one is spybot search and destroy you can get it off the tech tv website or use cnet.com. thats what i use and i have no problems. you can't use the uninstall it will not work. it stays in your registry unless you use a program or manual edit the reg (i don't recomment the second one unless you know how to do it right)

Uninstall Gator
After the conversion is complete and you do not need Gator, you can uninstall it:
* Open "Control Panel" and click "Add / Remove Programs".
* Select "Gator eWallet" and click the Add/Remove or Yes/No button. Wait until the goodbye web page appears.
* Select "Offer Companion" and click the Add/Remove or Yes/No button. Let the uninstaller run.
* Select "Precision Time" and uninstall it too. This is a Gator application that shows ads.
* Select "Data Manger" and uninstall it too. This is a Gator application that shows ads.
* There may be more Gator applications to uninstall.
To be absolutely sure that you got rid of Gator use Adaware or other spyware removal program.
Try this also

You actually have to go to the Gator website to get an uninstaller to physically remove it from your system. I know all the tricks and used every single one of them to try and remove this damn thing and it still wouldn't let me do it. I changed the registry, used anti-spy software, removed folders, used add/remove in control panel. Every time I'd restart windows it would be back. You have to get the remover from Gator's site. At least that was the case for Windows XP. You may have more ability to remove it through those other means with Win98.

Ugh. Adware is a mess. I had to spend two days fixing my computer after I tried it. Spybot is the way to go...
**EDIT** Whoops! Missy brought up ADAWARE, not Adware. Adaware works great...especially combined with Spybot. Adware remains a piece of shit. Beware.

I used Adaware and it worked. Got rid of all the Kaaza shit too. Go to download.com, do a search for "Adaware" and download the free version and then run it.
I now use Pest Patrol, which works really well (I bought that over the Internet).
