March 6, 2003 -- WNEW is showing signs of getting cold
feet over an new, experimental radio format it was
widely expected to unveil this spring.

The new format was supposed to be a mix of MTV and
VH1-style entertainment features with music.

I will NEVER understand why Ron & Fez couldn't have been on in NYC for the last month and a half. INFINITY had NOTHING in place!!! They could've done 30 FAREWELL shows! But no, they cut them off as if they had some immediate plan all ready to go. It's disgusting.

You forgot the most telling bit of the article, hurlmon:
In fact, The Post has learned that Steve Kingston, program director of sister-station K-Rock (92.3) has been "intimately involved" with WNEW in recent days - causing insiders to speculate that a more traditional music format is on now the drawing boards.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Kingston the Amborcombie & Finch Midget (A&FM) of O&A fame? The P.D. at K-Rock that torpedo every move they tried to make on the musical front?

K-Rock NY isn't a ratings giant of any sort, and A&FM has tried his damndest (sp?) to eliminate any sort of competition he might have within the company. Why did R&F get pushed back to nights and we got stuck with Tom Lickass? Because Kingston wanted immediate ratings releif for his afternoon drive. Why did R&F get the boot when Infinity had no set plans for 'NEW? So they no longer competed with K-Rock. Why is Kingston involving himself in the new WNEW? So it doesn't draw ratings away from his station.

What's keeping us from hearing our boys in New York? Steve Kingston.

Ladies and gentleman, I believe we have a candidate for removal. By any means necessary.
