Does any one know of a good website that would tell you where a person's last name originated in? Where the roots of the last name began, etc. Just curious.

I don't which is a good one, but I can tell you to be careful. Mine is a very difficult name to find, but there are some sites out there that will send you out a "free" keychain & rolled up piece of parchment just to look at, then try to get you to order a framed coat of arms for $70.
The only problem, when they couldn't find mine, they just sent out the most ridiculously generic write-up & coat of arms (I believe the coat of arms was the example one they sent in the email before they even knew my name) and swear it was authentic.
Sorry, I can't point you in the right direction, all I can offer is some advice. Be careful if your name isn't Smith, Jones, Cunningham, or something that you know right off the top of your head will be fairly easy to find.

Well I'm not necessarily looking for a whole historical background on familys names. But more along the lines of what country did the name originate in.
For instance if you entered the name McDonagh or something like that you could find that the name originate in Ireland.
That's more along the lines of what I'm looking for.
