They just pumped out hit after hit, up until they "jumped the shark" and started making that sappy adult contemporary crap.
Underrated, to say the least.

chicago was actually my first concert. i was in junior high and down in texas visiting my dad for the summer. it was an outdoor fourth of july concert on the bayou. i saw drunk hippies swimming in the bayou and it's the first time i smelled pot. good times.

That was a great scene in "Three Kings" when Ice Cube put on the "easy listening classics" and "If you leave me now" played during the battle scene...

Trying to stop talking like a grizzled 1890's prospector..

The song that made me want to play guitar. Terry Kath's "wah-wah" solo is one of my favorites.

I grew up on "Chicago's Greatest Hits".

I saw them at Jones Beach the year before last. I thought it would be an OK way to waste a warm summer night....THEY WERE FANTASTIC ! It's amazing how you know EVERY song and they played for over 2 hrs.

I would recommend that every Old Schooler check them out...maybe a Old School Trip this summer?????

I liked them up till when they put out that big, what, 5 disc album with all the posters in it. They jumped the shark after that with that sugar coated sacharin they began to put out .

"Sure I'm happy to see you; haven't you noticed that lump in my sock?"

Founding member and keyboardist Robert Lamm is the other familiar voice associated with Chicago.

The first song I had heard from Chicago was 25 or 6 to 4? covered by the metal band, Intruder! They rocked.

It was soon after that and a high school crush, that I heard You're The Inspiration. I LOVED that song and it still gives me the warm feeling int he cockles. After that, I just went a bought almost all of the Chicago records I could find and listened to the quite a bit. Some of the deep cuts, I still don't remember but some of the earlier stuff with Terry Kath just rocked. There was such a great mix of rock and a jazzy blues going on that is was just so refreshing to me. Old Days remains one of my favorite songs. As far as the sentimental "crap" goes, nothing like throwing on Chicago 17 when the girl is over. Or A girl for that matter.

I think they kind of jumped the shark after Terry Hath died. Jimi Hendriz called him the best guitarist he had ever heard. I believe he committed suicide. Not sure.

Terry Kath's gunshot wound, though self inflicted, was ruled accidental.

I guess they don't do "A Song For Richard and His Friends" anymore.
