For those who dont know tonight at MSG is Patrick Ewing night. Theyre retiring his number, 33. I have been a die-hard KNICK fan for as long as I can remember. One thing I will always remember is Ewing on the team busting his ass and trying to win a championship for NYC. Its kinda sad actually watching this. You may not have liked him but you definetly had to respect him.
Im sitting here watching this and Im getting all phaklempt.

Did every kid 13 years and younger in attendance receive a free souvenir banana?

I loved Ewing. He was a great player and a hard worker.
The team totally fell apart when he left. LONG LIVE THE KNICKS!

I will be the first to tell you that I HATE Patrick Ewing and the New York Knicks, but what they did tonight for him was very classy and I for one enjoyed watching it.

I thought last night was great.
Ill admit that when he played for them, I really didnt appreciate him but when he left I saw just how much he meant to the team. Look where the Knicks are now.
I wouldnt say he is the greatest Knick ever but he definitely deserves to have his number hanging up in the rafter along with the other great Knickerbockers

I saw on TV last night a listing of who was the most influential person in New York Sports over the last 20 years. I couldnt believe Ewing was listed with Messier, Jeter and LT. Ewing never won a championship. He doesnt belong in that list
Kinda makes you think when the #1 rapper is white and the #1 golfer is black

he was a player that played hard but was unable to figure out how to win when it really counted... maybe because he was too nice a person? He wanted the ball late in the game but rarely came through...
with his size and athlethic ability he should have been a dominant force inside, but he never really was...
but he does deserve the honors he is receiving...

Know one in the history of the NBA has missed more Clutch game winning shots than Mr. Patrick Ewing. He should be kept out of the Hall of Fame just on that fact alone.
