I've been looking for a bartending job. Tonight, I went to a bar that advertised a position available just today in the paper. No phone number was listed, just "Show up Thursday 2-27 or Friday 2-28 after 5pm and ask to speak to the manager."

I arrived at 7:30, and the bar was obviously a black orientated bar, Reggae music was playing and every employee and patron in the place was black. I asked to speak to the manager, and she was the person I asked. I introduced myself and told her I was responding to the ad in the paper.

"I'm not hiring. The position has been filled."

I thanked her for her time and left.

I'm pissed because it's obvious that she just wasn't hiring a blonde caucasion looking person, and didn't even bother to be civil or amuse me with 10 minutes of her time to make a decision.

Obviously, this situation doesn't usually happen in this direction, because statistically, Blacks own less business than Whites. However, it pisses me off and I feel like venting.

Thats my dream job. Chairman Kaga....like 2 years ago at Red Rock they had guy bartender night where some of the regulars got to bartend there. It was to raise money for some charity or something like that.....Ive been told they might be doing this again in the future.

Just to let you know, a lot of bartending schools have job placement for life. There are certain times you have to call the school for openings but they never ask who you are. They never even ask when you graduated. Usually, they will run off a list of who is hiring and that's about it. I know a few people who have done it. It's very easy.
