this just may be a dream of mine and i'll be happy with it if it get no farther than just for the amusement of myself and cloestest friends. I am looking to come up with a comic book and i am looking for some ideas like what are the most important aspects that everyone looks for in a comic. the premiss for the story line is kinda like Boondock Saints ans Batman with a drinking problem. And there will be no customs or calling card logos.

So i just would like to know what everyone thinks would be important for a comic book?

thanks

characterization. as long as you have strong characters, the rest will come. weak characters equal weak comic.

Origin. A good, original origin.

I agree with furie. Origin. Gotta build on a good foundation.
The comix I enjoy the mostest are the ones that have a human weakness to it. Not the mighty superhero is weak against Kryptonite, or Bruce Willis being weak against water....I'm talking about character flaw, strong human flaw that usually brings tragedy far off in the future.

I think "Gvac" is an awesome name for a superhero.

For some reason all guys are bulit like the guy on the bowflex comercial, and all the ladies are built like Pamala Anderson. Also everyone wears spandex.

he's my hero.

origin is totally it. my favorite has always been the punisher, because that story about losing his family and making everyone pay for the rest of his life was just so great. something that really hit home.

adn a good arch enemy is a must, nothing is cooler than wolverine and sabertooth.

but make him bad ass too, there are too many good hearted good guys, not enough bad ass ones.

it will not be like huge guys in spandex with super powers but it will be girls with killer bodies a lot of it will taking places in bars so they need to be hot
it will be punisher style vengience handed out by 4 guys NOT IN SPANDEX

each one will have some sort of secret from the others "morality is not legality"

there are 4 areas of importance when looking at a somic book character.

1)Origin: very important. being a mutant is just a cop out. "i was born this way." it justs sounds gay.

2)Powers: gotta have cool powers without thats whats the point?

3)Motivation: y are they fighting crime? did he see his parents die as a kid? did he choose to not foil a crime just so that the same criminal hurts him in another, worse way, down the line? y is you hero fighting crime?

4)Costume: do not underrate the importance of a cool costume. s cool costume is the difference between green arrow and hawkeye!!!! make sure your hero's suit is practical as well, thats subtle yet important.

Are you writing it and doing the artwork?

i will be writting along with my brother
the art work will all be done by me

there is the problem The Art Work
I see black and white ink with character style similar to batman the aminated series
i think it fits the look better that is in my mind

he likes color and art work closer to Dr Kats more cartoonish

i an able to do both styles but the cartoonish is much easier and more fun to do. but i think the batman is a darker style and the most important part of any comic book THE GIRLS are SEXIER but there is more time and effort in to that style.

once i get a good draft finished i'll post some of it for you all

thanks for all the input

Don't underestimate the value of good, realistic dialogue.

Keep the tits small, but show them a lot. Make the lead characters British and have them smoke EVERY GODDAMN PAGE. Have them fall in love with the words "fuck", "cunt", "bollocks" and "shite". Have people die often in very bloody and traumatic yet oddly amusing ways. Show every gory detail, because you wouldn't want the readers to actually use their imaginations.

Congratulations.

You've just written every Vertigo comic book in the last decade.
