On a side note, don't ever visit Lancaster, PA. I live there and it's an absolute hellhole.

Outside of Ireland and London, Spain is my favorite place to be in Europe. Nepal was a swell trip...Singapore, too. Panama and Costa Rica worked me over...

MAUI, HAWAII!! If you have the money, spend your time at a resort. We stayed at the Sheraton Maui. GORGEOUS Atrium. tropical birds, swans, flamingos, penguins (yes, penguins!). Paradise on earth!
Rome, Italy. Take a bottle of wine to the Spanish Steps and make some friends!
London, England. Lots of fun, great pubs. The food stinks but you don't have to worry about the language and the locals are friendly.
San Francisco, CA. One of my favorite cities in the US. The majority of the people you will meet are transplanted New Yawkas!
I leave this last 'cuz you were just there... HOLLAND! Amsterdam, without a doubt, ROCKED! I stayed at a hotel riiiiight on the edge of the Red Light district. Evenings were like a great, big, international block party. The rest of the country is BEAUTIFUL. I traveled Holland on a bicycle-- BEST way to see a country!

If your into art Florence Italy has more to see than any place i've been. Rome is only two hours by train, the Vatican is so cool.
London was cool also great theater nice pubs and oddly I liked the food.
Germany has the most amazing country side, Bavaria in particular. The alps and the castles are unreal. Good food too and the best beer ever.
Porto Rico was real nice but I was only about 15 at the time. Only tip I have is don't leave the resort.

Venice, Italy (off-season) - the entire city is a historical landmark, romantic, culture, divine.
Machu Pitchu, Peru - Historic, inexpensive, and cheap coca (tea, powder, whatevs)
Safari in Kenya (I loved it, especially Mt. Kenya Safari Lodge, and Masai Mara.
Mauritius (the closest thing to paradise on earth.)
Belize (relatively inexpensive, great diving and ruins. Belize/Costa Rica would be the bomb.)
Sebago Lake, Maine (to relax).
Yosemite, California (you know those Ansel Adams pictures?.......)
Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic (awesome resort area and beautiful local women.)
PS: avoid Colombia, Iraq and Algeria.

So many more spots listed than last time I looked.
Vancouver,B.C. Beautiful, with lots of neighborhoods to explore, nightlife and close enough to "winter sports".
The Virgin Islands Good beaches, amazing water. The botanical gardens will astound if you have "house plants".
Mexico Climbing the pyramids was a life-long dream come true for me. They are however,a long bus ride from Cancun.
I had a great time on the cruises I took. Each cruise line caters to it's own clientele. Some folks like to get dressy and formal at dinner, others not. Choose wisely.
Wherever you go, you can make it a "literary vacation". By chance, I was in New Orleans reading "Hammer of the Gods". The sight-seeing and reading were both enhanced by the experience. Try this with "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas ", at your own risk.
Have fun.
