View Full Version : Donahue Cancelled
It seems Phil's tired old act wasn't the answer for MSNBC, and they've given him the ax. http://entertainment.iwon.com/article/id/252327|entertainment|02-25-2003%3A%3A17%3A45|reuters.html
And for those of you who cannot comprehend why some of us insist there's a liberal bias in the media, check out this line from the Reuters story - The move highlights the dire situation at 6-year-old MSNBC, which experts say has struggled to define itself next to the straight-laced tone of CNN's news programming, and the conservative swagger of Fox News.
CNN is "straight-laced" and Fox has a "conservative swagger"? I thought Reuters was a news organization, not an editorial service. To guys like me, Fox is "straight-laced" and CNN has a "liberal swagger."

This shows that the majority of thinking Americans don't want to hear a liberal talk show host telling us on how to live and think. I heard that Jesse Ventura will have that time slot in late Spring now people are gonna watch. CNN is liberal and yes Fox is more conservative. I don't like Bill O'Reilly because his to stubborn and is not open minded enough.

Yes, Gvac, but you are admittedly fairly far to the right. Therefore, if Fox seems "straightlaced" wouldn't it seem "conservative" to the rest of us? and if CNN seems "liberal" to you, wouldn't it most likely be moderate?

I think the only people who see CNN as "moderate" are those who share the same beliefs and values as that network. Just as liberals think they are mainstream and conservatives are "far right", conservatives believe they are mainstream and liberals are "far left."
It's just funny to me how supposed "news" organizations like Reuters and the AP (as well as the network news programs) claim to be free of bias, yet it's quite evident which side they're on. For example, I've seen dozens of reports and articles on Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity, and I've never seen them described as merely a "talk show host." It's always "Ultra - Conservative talk show host" or "right wing radio personality", and yet I never see Phil Donahue referred to as "Uber-Liberal host" or "slightly left of Marx talk show host", etc.
News should be just that - news. If you're going to attach labels or make judgments, it immediately becomes an editorial and discredits the validity of the source.

CNN and Fox News love reporting this today.
I don't think they do, because they are no longer assured that they will kick MSNBC's tail in the ratings. :)
Gvac, I personally enjoy Fox News and watch it more than anything else on TV, and I will be the first to admit that there is a conservative bias at that network.
To me, CNN has the most neutral stance, but their shows are boring.

Donahue was a self rightous jerk but give him credit, he started the "talk show host jump into the audience with a mic" format and was ripped off by the evil cult leader Oprah.
Bill O'Reilly is an asshole. Just look at the hatchet job he did on O&A. I hope the Rappers he's battling with cook him with an apple in his mouth.
Yeah, it's a stupid poster, but it's a stupid "news" channel and damned if they both don't make me laugh.
If you have a problem with Fox News, talk to the head of programming:
