Well, for the first time in my life I am working the night shift. Pretty weird. I wonder if this should be posted under the Insomniac Poster thread. Have you ever worked the night shift? What is it like besides darker?

See Ya!

I'm working from 5-11. It seems like it will be okay. I'm a night person anyway. I'm just not liking the colder weather notion of it.

See Ya!

Billy,
The shift you're on is pretty nice(of course it depends on your job!) You get to sleep late in the morning and , if your so inclined, you can go out after work and do whatever floats your boat. The real killer is midnight to 8am. I worked it for many years. I still never got entirely used to it. Around 4am your body wants to go to sleep no matter how much rest you got that day. I'm sure glad those days are over!!!

I work from 10 pm to 6 am; I've worked this shift at this job for a couple of years.
In addition to the wierd hours, for most of my shift I am completely alone.

You have to wake up in the middle of your night if you want to go shopping, go to the doctor or make another type of appointment, go to the post office or even see your own boss.

You start needing sunglasses for even the tiniest hint of sunlight. You get used to having dinner for breakfast.

It makes ya kinda squirrelly after a while.

Not that it's a BAD thing, mind you. But us night shift folk are a little odd. It's the sleep deprivation that does it.

i've been on 2nd Shift for approx 14 years now...

3-11, 4-12, 4-2(4day)

i've always enjoyed having my daytime free...
since we've had kids my wife who works full-time was getting stressed by me not being there at night. Then i went to a Sat-Tue schedule and 3 nights during the week I'm there to cook, clean, and get the kids to their games, ccd classes,etc... It gives her a break and I get to stay on nights...

plus you get a diffential which helps to pay for gas and meals...
