When someone asks you which kind you want them to pick up for you....

Do you tell them the "color" or the "flavor"?


My friend always says "Yellow." Others call the same lemon/lime kind "Green", even though they mean the lemon/lime (they do have green colors, like Fierce Lime).

I have an easy time, I like "orange" so flavor and color are the same. But it gets tricky when you go for the "Frost" types, etc. Do you go "purple" or "Riptide Rush?"

The folks at Gatorade do seem to make some flavors easier now. I bought a flavor yesterday that was simply called "Blue."

I always say "Riptide Rush" which is a purple frost because I won't settle for anything other than that. As a matter of fact I'm drinking one right now, I drink at least 2 a day and am always specific when I ask so I don't get the wrong one.

OK, first, they have an interesting Web Site.

It has a dynamic front page, but when I visited the first time today the background picture looked like a female sucking a horse's cock. (there are also ones of a white guy drinking and a black guy drinking.) Keep refreshing until you get the white chick to see if you agree with me.)

Second, I didn't realize that the folks at Gatorade actually differentiate among different types of their drink. There is their signature "Thirst Quencher", and also "Frost", "Fierce", "Ice" and Extremo" (never heard of that one.)

I knew they came in these types (except Extremo), but thought it was just marketing names. But the site explains that the different "series" meet different needs...Who knew it was that complicated...

The "Ice" series is intended to "...leave your mouth quickly", while "Extremeo" is, "...specially created for our Latino consumers." (Interesting that they don't mention "Melon" as created "to appeal to [their] African American consumers" or "Star Fruit to appeal to [their] Asian consumers."

Anyone really drink this stuff and think of anything other than the FLAVOR you like?

Maxim must have gotten it from The Smoking Gun. The Foo Fighters rider is one of the best ever... I just looked it up, check out page 5.

Oh, and Tenbat..I don't think you were suggesting I got my post idea from Maxim. I finished puberty and my attention span can tolerate articles that are longer than 100 words. My nephew loves that mag though. Then again he also watches WWE wrestling on TV.

When ordering Gatorade, a true afficionado will always refer to the flavor (if not the lot #).

My poison happens to be Melon. Truly the most Gatoriffic of all present day Gatorades.

Grape, however, and mind you not that Robitussin like crap they now peddle as Fierce Grape, but rather the no longer available original Grape Gatorade, was simply a gift from God.

I've heard that some can still be had on the black market, but that the Taliban would ultimately benefit from such transactions.

Patriotism or Gatorade? Why does it always seem to come down to that?

My personal favorite is Arancia Rossa, you can't get it here because they only sell it in Italy, but if you've ever been there and had it you'd know that it's the best. Its tastes sort of like blood oranges. When I drink it here, I like orange(both color and flavor). Does anyone remember Green Apple? It was sooo artifical, yet great.

I always ask by color - pink or blue. If I ask for a specific flavor and it's not available then I won't get anything. Asking by color gives the buyer more options.

My personal favorites are Frost Glacier Freeze, passion fruit and strawberry kiwi.

Interestingly, I leafed through a copy of Maxim just the other day when I went to a bookstore to buy my latest issue of Highlights for Children and Boys Life. It is, in fact, well written. I especially liked the article on "Top Ten Ways To Seduce a Woman Using Alcohol while Watching Football and Playing Xbox at the Same Time."

Alas, I suffer the unfortunate fate of being highly intelligent and well educated. I am an elitist, intellectual snob who is sarcastic and can be a prick. But at least I am self aware enough to know it. Not everyone gets me. Not everyone likes me. If everyone did I'd be worried....Tell me something I don't know.

I find it regrettable, however, that others go around oblivious to how they are perceived, or, even more unfortunate, are in denial about how they are seen by those around them. How a topic thread as benign as "Gatorade", and what I initially posted, could have devolved into the need for someone to throw a personal barb at me is sad. I was simply inspired to post the "Gatorade" topic as I sat reading posts enlightening me on "girlie batching", "horniness", "Booty" and "Bacon" while sipping on a Cascade Crash Gatorade Frost. Nothing more, nothing less.

Gatorade, such a highbrow subject....perhaps I should have posted on French existentialism or Chaos Theory.

And by the way, my nephew is 39.
