Old School started on time Wednesday and their were no previews or commercials. It was sweet.
I saw a piece on the news about people tying to get the theaters to change the movie times so the tickets say when the movie starts, not the previews.

AMEN!!! Im a huge movie geek and I love going to the theaters to see a flik, but nowadays you get about 20 minutes of fucking car commercials and TARGET commercials and shit, THEN the stupid COCA-COLA young film makers stupid lil 3 minute film that usually sucks ass, then another15 minutes of previews....THEN the movie ?? Its getting to the point where you almost forget what you went to the theater to see.

11. The movie did not begin at the time scheduled. Instead, at 4:45 p.m. Loews showed a stream of advertisements, product placements, and promotions prior to the actual feature film, including the following.
(a). Commercial Message No 1: commercial for Coca-Cola, in which two adolescent boys meet up with two adolescent girls outside in front of a Coke machine; the boys make small talk with the girls that includes their explaining to the girls, "In Thailand, it's illegal not to wear underwear";
(b) Commercial Message No. 2: commercial for Cingular Wireless, which consists of little more than a giant image of Cingular Wireless' logo;
(c) Commercial Message No. 3: commercial for Fandango, an internet service company allowing moviegoers to purchase their tickets ahead of time; commercial revolves around a young man driving up to a movie theatre (a miniature Buddha-like figure hanging from his rear-view mirror) who is refused admission to the movies due to it being sold out and his not having bought his tickets ahead of time from Fandango; and
(d) Commercial Message No. 4: commercial for the National Advancement of Color People (NAACP) that shows images of Black civil rights leaders and police officers and notes that the NAACP is "still leading the fight to bring justice and equality to everyone."
12. The actual feature film began at 4:49, four minutes later than the posted starting time.
If you have time, read the link. It's pretty funny...

I don't go to the movies often. Usually, most movies are recycled garbage. Secondly, People can be so so annoying, talking, cell phones, bringing their kids no matter what time it is, etc. Thirdly, Why pay $10 for a bad movie, commericials, bad previews that go right to video, get over charged for popcorn, soda and treats nontheless to go see a movie which sucks? Honeslty over an entire year...how many movies that you see in a theatre actually are good or enjoyable? You could probably count on one hand the total and it's like 1 of 7 that you see overall.

how about at home? I fast forward past the crap at the beginning of my son's disney movies, and hit "reset" when the movie starts - my vcr will rewind back to the 0 point so next time - no ads. Now the big problem is the DVD - a LOT of crap at the beginning on those to, and some you cant skip, while others you need to hit 3 or 4 buttons to start the movie. Annoying.

4 minutes isnt all that long - I swear that the stuff at the front of "The Two Towers" was more like 10 for me - there were about 6 coming attractions as well as ads - it was long enough for the wife to go to the concession stand for a drink, and use the bathroom.

As much as I am happy to see that the ads will be lessened, the whole lawsuit disturbs me to know that their is one less judge to hear a trial involving a murderer, pedophile, or rapist.

they really snuck commercials into the beginning of movies. i remember a few years ago seeing maybe one commercial before the previews, and it was usually movie related (buying movie tickets or theater gift certificates). but in the last few years they've slowly built up to something like 5minutes of commercials, then 10 minutes of previews. i dont really mind previews because its nice to see what's comming out, but i see enough god damn commercials on tv.

I went to see "Freddy vs. Jason" last week and it took like 20 minutes before the movie started!!! The previews were okay but are commercials nessesary? Don't we go to movies to get away from them?

Wait, they put commercials before movies now too? Holy Shit. I haven't seen a movie in a long time. I can't believe they started doing that.
