waiting for a goodbye

when you have to leave in a chat or instant message, after you give your closing line like brb do you wait for the other person to respond. I do, but I feel like a dick just waiting there. I guess I just want to get confirmation that the other people understand or something.

Does anyone else wait for the goodbye or do you just jet.

I say "Cya!" and wait a little bit for a reply. It really depends who I'm chatting with and if I know they are a slow replier.

I like the feature that lets you know if the other person is typing.

if someone says brb, i usually say k, and if it's goodbye with a cya, i say cya or talk to u later.

i just say "talk to u later", then leave without waiting for a response. i figure if they do respond and see i left, they won't be that upset they didnt get to say cya or something like that. its just easier that way.
