For me, it has to be the "Go-Go Gophers". A pair of buck-toothed, gophers that talked like retarded Cherokees. But boy, could they pull the wool over the Army Cavalry's eyes! They just don't make truly racially offensive cartoons for kids like that anymore.

It's funny how interest groups pressured Warner Brothers to ban Speedy and yet he is one of the most popular cartoon characters in Mexico and many South American countries.

He goes around killing the Japs during WW II. He calls them monkey face, slant eyes and other racial slurs. He then gives them ice cream bars with hand grenades in them.

There was an old Bugs Bunny cartoon from the forties I only saw once on a cable access show in the eighties. Bugs' protagonist is a black boy who shuffled, talked slow and had big lips and nose. I remember at one point when Bugs wanted to get his attention, he rattled some dice and the kid came running.

In addition, Billy never stopped yelling "SHAZAM!!" just to see if it would really work.

SHAZAM was an acronym used to summon the elders (Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus, Achilles, and Mercury); all dead white men or Gods. They could have at least thrown a womyn, African American, Latino or Asian in there.

For instance, they could have still kept SHAZAM but have had it stand for Shaniqua, Ho, Al-Zahir, Zeus, Athena, and Miguel.

At least they had a Jew in there....
