I've been meaning to do this for a while, but keep forgetting. I think this band is severely, severely underrated. Mark Knopler is an absolutely amazing guitarist and deserves much more acclaim than he gets. If 'Money for Nothing' and 'Walk of Life', two great songs in their own right, are the only Straits music you've been exposed to, you really should go out and get an album or two. I would recommend the 'Brothers in Arms' disc and 'Making Movies' to start. Their style encompasses many genres, from straight ahead Rock, to Blues, to Honky-Tonk, with a few stops in between, the lyrics are poetic and always absolutely beautiful. If your tired of the reprocessed, recycled crap your hearing on the radio day in and day out, try picking up a Dire Straits album. I don't thnk you'll be disappointed.
