I've only heard the one Zwan song and I really like it. I'm looking forward to hearing more of them.

Billy Corgan is fucking good!

i've yet to hear the zwan cd, but i'm very excited. honestly is a very good song, reminiscent of the pumpkins. i think billy corgan is an incredible talent; i was a little heartbroken when the pumpkins broke up. so, this is something to look forward to.

if anyone's heard it - how's the whole cd?

Thanks for this post, I've heard this song and have loved it. I was sure it was Billy Corgan but I didn't know the name of the group or the song. Now I got the song and am going to look for the album.

Zwan's new album is fantastic. Breaking up the Pumpkins was the smartest thing Billy could have done. By the time of their last album he was trying to make them into some weird "goth rock gods" entity that was just way too forced. Zwan just "feels" natural. He went out and grabbed some REAL musicians that he could play WITH not and just a couple of crackheads he had to boss around and tell what to do. And best of all, he kept Chamberlain around, who I think is THE best drummer in rock today...

Basically, the album just feels like pure rock 'n roll. It's heavy, it's happy, it's got ballads, bitchin' guitar solos, great pop songs...whatever you want. And be sure to get the two-disc edition! The DVD included is like a whole other album...

I can't stand Billy Corgan's whiney-ass voice, but the music itself wasn't half-bad. I'll check out Zwan, but I haven't liked anything from him since Gish.

I think Smashing Pumkins sucked so why would ZWAN be any different.

Congratulations!!! You've just been visited by a Newcastle United Official Hooligan.

Damn right. Outside of "Gish", it's my favorite Pumpkins album, and I thought it was a really cool direction for them to go in...hence why I was even more let down by "Machina"...

Honestly is my new favorite song. I heard it about a month ago and downloaded it the same day. The guitar solo is amazing. Simple but very well done. As to the question at hand, Smashing Pumpkins is better since its the "original", but Zwan has a pretty good start.

Zwan will be at the Hammerstein Ballroom on Friday March 28th. I really dig their new album, and am looking forward to seeing them in concert.

I will say that it is a bit too soon to start comparing Zwan with Smashing Pumpkin. Gotta let them build a little of a catalog first.

I'll have to check it out.

I was a huge fan of the Pumpkins back in the dizzay, and to date, seeing them in the tiny Academy was the best show I've ever seen.

In my humble opinion Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness was their best album. 2 full discs. No filler. All good.

the zwan cd is pretty good, so far one of my favorites of the year.

but its got some lyrics that are just awful.

During the chorus of "Settle Down" billy just says "i can do anything, cause im good like that." doesnt fit the rhyme at all, and its completely out of place.

But overall its pretty good.

dave pajo is the man... both from tortoise and from way back in slint... you can't go wrong with him.. though I've yet to hear the zwan album and make a full judgement... i think the best thing is to not compare the smashing pumpkins and zwan jsut because of some commen members... different bands, different sounds
