Can someone tell me what a booger is made up of? where they come from and is there a technical name for them?

My friend told me that the nose is like a vent for stuff that can go in and out the nose. A booger is just like the dirt in the air that the nose doesnt let inside your body.

I used to work for an ear nose throat doctor. I had to clean all of the booger infested insturments every day. It was horrible.

And i did see people who had to get their blood vessels cauterized and it didn't look too fun.
