Just bought a Sony MD MP3 recorder. Don't make the same mistake. Although it says it records downloaded mp3 files, the software it comes with works like a copyright protection cop and won't let record most stuff. Can anyone recomend a unit that works better?

Ow, my eye, my doctor told me not to get pudding in it

WOW! Are you kidding?! That totally blows. I can't believe that Sony would do that!! Question...does it forbid copying on ALL copywritten music, or just the artists on Sony records?
You're best solution is to playback the MP3's in real time and record them in real time using the 1/8th inch headphone mini-jack output on your computer and go directly into the 1/8th inch input on the MD recorder. Sure, it will take a long time to make an MD full of cool tunes, but at least you'll have the skip-free playback advantages of a MD player.
Another route would be to have an OPTICAL/DIGITAL output installed on your computer. Then you could digitally record directly from your computer with zero loss. Additionally, when you record from the OPTICAL output, all the start & stop points will be automatically entered to the MD. If you use the headphone output; all your songs will appear as one huge track on the MD player until you divide them with the MD players editing functions.
Good luck my friend. You got hosed, but you can still get your money's worth with the player you bought.
