Disturbing New Drug Craze in Teenagers - Robitussin

Officials in Boston fear there is a new drug craze sweeping local high schools. Teenagers are being treated for misusing over the counter cough and cold medicines like Robitussin and Coricidin. These medicines give a slow mellow feeling similar to PCP.
Doctors say that the substances can quickly become addictive and: "It's cheap, it's legal, it's easy to obtain, and nobody questions you if you have it in your backpack." Ingesting 4 or more ounces of Robitussin can cause hallucinations.

In 2002 there were 1,048 counts of misuse of this kind of drug, which contains the base element of dextromethorphan (DXM), reported in MA and RI. "I think it's becoming more prevalent, and parents don't know anything about it," said a school official.

right on, we use to ROBO all the time. our high school playground was nicknamed ROBO WORLD and we all brought in the DM (works best) and tripped. always made me itch really bad tho.
but other than that i turned out just fine.. kinda.
ok not really but, not cuz of robo, drink up kids, its only medicine.

yeah this isn't new..but what is dangerous about it is when they take the coricdan...it contains something other than DXM as the active ingredients..and when you take alot of it, as people trippin on it do, your nose bleeds and gets all fucked up..that's the dangerous part. alot of pharmacy's have started putting the corcidan behind the counter and asking for id before they let anyone buy it. i guess just to keep track of everyone buying it.

umm yeah and it's not like pcp..it's more like ketamine.

If you take the robutussin that has anything else in it besides DXM (like tylenol), you risk getting SEVERE liver damage.
