Platoon is one of my favorite films... Probably Tom Berenger's best performance...
What scene are you talking about?

It's hard to find a bad Vietnam era movie. Full Metal Jacket is the class of the genre but Platoon and Apocolypse Now are awesome too.

"Full Metal Jacket" is so overrated. The first part in boot camp is fantastic, but as soon as you hear those first few lines from Nancy Sinatra, it just all goes to shit REAL fast.

alright, and doesn't he say "why are you laughing mother f'r" "why didn't you come out"
then Matt Dillon's younger brother says "he's laughing at you man" and then proceeds to bash the one legged guys head in with his rifle butt...

I watch for the next 3 minutes to see them talk to the hooker and get their camera stolen and that is it. Turn off the movie.
Apocolypse now is kinda the same way. The best part is with Robert Duvall. You really have to be in the mood to sit through apocolypse now.
Thank you Ron and Fez for finally being live in DC again.
Ok let's get the boys back live in NY. Don't give up the fight.

the best and saddest part of platoon is when Elias is being chased and shot at by the VC.

in full metal jacket the best part is the female sniper towards the end of the movie.

in black hawk down the whole movie is great. i suggest watching the History Channels special presentation about Black Hawk Down. you understand the movie better and, you get to appreciate the movie a whole lot more.

god is an absentee LANDLORD!!!

I'm not a huge fan of certain Vietnam-era movies that distort facts and make things appear to be more common and acceptable than they were. Platoon makes it look like an American killing innocent villagers was frequent and encouraged.
I do like Full Metal Jacket and The Deer Hunter, though. They were very good.

Blackhawk Down was great because it just happened. The characters are real. The History channel doc. on it was great also.
