HBO is rerunning all the Sopranos starting from episode 1 tonight and every Sunday night at 8PM.

After watching that episode, it confirms what I felt. There is no comparison of those shows from the first season to the kinds of shows they are putting out now. They were 100x better, the writing and acting was brilliant. Everything about it was classic.

Reef's right, they peaked right out of the gate and had nowhere to go but down. Still mountains better than any other drama on TV right now...well, except for maybe "6 Feet Under". But other than that, I'll still happily take new episodes of "The Sopranos".

And somethins else really threw me off...several times Tony was referred to as the "boss of North Jersey"...and it was said Junior was jealous of of him because Tony was the "boss". But Jackie Sr. was actually the boss at the time...Junior and Tony were just capos. Granted, this is just one of many "sorta mistakes" in the pilot (Hello, different Father Phil...Tony is about three pant sizes smaller...), but that's just because it was shot a few months before the rest of the season when they weren't sure if the series would be picked up...
