It's got to be Spiderman. He makes a cameo in every marvel comic.

Does anyone notice that Nick Fury is now a black man in the X Men? Not that there is anything wrong with it!!

He's black in the entire Ultimate universe. I like how he uses the cheesiest one-liners for no apaprent reason at all, except that he can kill you 18 times in broad daylight and nobody will ever know...

Do you mean in the new JLA cartoon? That's actually based on when the comic GL was a black guy back in the 70's...

Well, the LEAST confusing part of Nick Fury is that he's black now. There's technically THREE Nick Furys running around the Marvel Uinverses. There's the "Ultimate" Nick Fury, who's black, there's the "MAX" Nick Fury, who's old and crazy and racist and strangled a guy to death with his intestines in his last series by Garth Ennis, and then there's the "regular" Nick Fury, who, when I last checked, is actually Nick Fury's son, since the real Nick Fury was shot and killed by the Punisher a few years back. EVERYONE HAVING FUN NOW?!?

So you didn't see a black Nick Fury in THE X-Men titles. You would have seen him in "Ultimate X-Men". The Marvel "Ultimate" universe was started a year or two back, and it basically relaunches the Marvel Universe TODAY instead of back in the 60's...it's essentially there for people looking to jump on to something after seeing the new movies.

everyone who's a comic book fan should read this series. It's one of the funniest, and best takes on a classic character ever. I can hardly wait to see what Ennis does when he takes over Spiderman.

I can hardly wait to see what Ennis does when he takes over Spiderman.

Is this happening? Ennis, has turned down offers to write guys like Batman and Superman before, claiming to have little interest in the "do-gooders in tights" sort of characters...just look at the crappy treatment Spider-Man and Daredevil got in "Punisher" and Green Lantern and Batman got in "Hitman". Plus, I think Kevin Smith is actually taking over "Amazing Spider-Man" in the next year...

But you're right, the Nick Fury series kicked ass. That was a character that bored me senseless since the 70's, and Ennis finally gave him something to do.

Is this happening
I heard a rumor that Ennis was considering doing a story arc. He already wrote a great Spidey story called "the Thousand."

What i would really love to see Ennis do (and don't laugh, its a pipe dream of mine) is to bring back Heroes for Hire. I think he could do alot with the moral ambiguity of superheroes working for a profit (even the highest bidder) as opposed to just being a do-gooder. I mean, no one writes about the logistics of fighting crime and holding a job. Could you imagine Iron Fist on the Welfare Line, and someone mocking him, telling him to "get a job"? This could be beautiful, heros who want to do good, but can't afford to do it for free working with heroes who are just in it for the money.

"The Thousand"...is that the story he did for "Tangled Web"? Yeah, that was pretty cool...but I wouldn't want that month after month for Spidey...they already made Spidey "grim 'n gritty" just before the clone mess, and it was awful. Ennis is just too dark a writer. Give him a Spidey-mini maybe...

The most amusing thing about the Ultimate Fury is that he looks exactly like Samuel L. Jackson.

how can anyone NOT SAY VENOM he was overused to the point of where you cant even find him anymore...this guy is the definition of overexposure.

Hate to break the news to you, but Marvel is actually bringing him back for a run in the Spider-Man books. I'm not sure exactly which ones, though. Probably Smith's, when he comes on to AMS. Speaking of which...

". Plus, I think Kevin Smith is actually taking over "Amazing Spider-Man" in the next year...

UNFORTUNATELY.

I've MAJORLY soured upon Kevin Smith's comic book work. When he got the Daredvil gig a few years back, I was happy. I thought, hey, it's Kevin Smith, it's cool....

Boy, has the law of diminishing returns hit me with him.

It's not that he's a bad writer, it's just that a) he's far too verbose for standard action-superhero books, b) he's RIDICULOUSLY slow in writing anything.

He's going to be taking over Amazing soon. THANK GOD that Marvel was smart enough to create a brand new Spidey title for JMS to continue writing, otherwise I'd be really pissed. I'm definitely going to pick up JMS's new title, but I may drop AMS once Smith comes on.

WTF?!

He is in Ultimate X Men that Im reading. He is cool though! I liked how they had Wolverine saving his life back in the Gulf War and now Fury helps him when he needs it. I know they are taking libertys with the Ultimates lately and its kind of disturbing, but its kind of hard to think of these as teenage charicters when they have been around sice the 60's! Its like Dennis the Menace never grows up! I read in one of these posts that there is another charicter that has the adamantium added to his skeleton as well. Who is that and how did they describe it? Im curious but dont remember which post it was under.
