It looks very cool. Plus, the design seems to allow the building to lift off and relocate on a moments notice.

Just rebuild the damn buildings just like they were, only one story higher in a symbolic gesture .......and move all the United Nations embassies to the top floors, with Saudia Arabia in the penthouse.

This is a really cool design. I like most of the new proposals, but this is another good one. The proposal with the 4 immense towers and a canopy on top is still my favorite.

Interesting concept but, well, I don't know about it. It kind of looks like a cluster of dildos to me.
Too bad Frank Lloyd Wright isn't still alive. . . *sigh* . . . he'd do something interesting.
We're stuck nowadays with all these Mies Van der Rohe wanna-be's . . . or LeCorbusier . . . *sigh* too bad architecture had to be infected with self-importance.

Obviously someone just stole that from "Sim City 3000".
No offense, but all of these designs have been awful. ALL of them. They're just not practical and they look hideous.

... alot of people keep saying that the developer should just rebuild the towers exactly as they were.... That would give the idea that September 11th never happened, and that we should just put them back and move on... which would be a great wrong.
This competition is the most important one ever in the history of architecture. It has one of the most complex programs that a building has ever had, and must resolve every problem with an all encompassing solution. And while every building project should respond with proper site planning, this particular project becomes a challenge because the site is a sacred ground. Thus, the best design will not only solve the programmatic elements in a creative way, it will also respect the ground it lays upon in a respectful manner. Which is why I have felt that Daniel Libeskind's studio has developed the best project, a design that not only generates its programmatic layout from the site, but also sits on the site in such a way that every year, on September 11th, the sun will shine without shadow upon the hollowed ground where the towers once stood.
To simply dismiss a building because it is not visually appealling to a person is to show a lack of understanding for the actual design. If it was the basis for critical decision making , then there would be no Vietnam Memorial, no Guggenheim, and no World Trade Center.
We're stuck nowadays with all these Mies Van der Rohe wanna-be's . . . or LeCorbusier . . . *sigh* too bad architecture had to be infected with self-importance.
... care to back up that statement?

Ok, both of you should know better (especially you Mr. 6700 posts!). If you actually clicked on the link I referred you to instead of just looking at the pretty picture, you would know that this idea was not thought of yesterday, but rather it is a 95 year old idea that never came to fruition.
I'll see you both after class.

Why not just make two towers that resemble what the originals looked like? I don't think I'd be happy with anything less. If anything it would be a better sign of defiance to rebuild with the original design.

I doubt it will be, it's too futuristic looking even today compared to all the surrounding buildings anyway. People want something simple and plain.
Just imagine if it had been built back then. Others would have followed suit and the face of this and many other large cities would be very differnt today.
