as one of the few resident comics geeks here, id have to say that its pretty much been shown that admantium is the strongest metal in marveldom hence why in a recent issue of punisher, wolverine can take a blast to the face from franks shotgun and still be kickin ass.

If memory serves me correctly (which it often doesn't) adamantium was tested when it was first invented by having Thor hurl his hammer at it with all his might. He was unable to dent it.
Again, take it with a grain of salt. It might be vibranium I'm thinking of.

Uru metal
Who used that? I only remember Admantium and Vibranium. And there is a pic of Wolvie and CPT America fighting where Wolvie's claws cannot cut through the shield. So far, I have to go with vibranium.

Prepare for a geeking out...
Uru metal is what Thor's hammer is forged from.
Wolverine (And Bullseye's) skeleton are infused with adamantium.
Cap's second shield, the "original" round one, was made of adamantium, but was replaced in the 80's (I think, maybe later) by one that was an adamantium/vibranium hybrid, and the implication was that it was a zillion times tougher than his old shield. Cap's lost this shield plenty of times, and even had a crappy energy one for a while, but the hybrid model always ends up coming back.
Vibranium seems to be mined only in the Black Panther's African country, and it's how he's so goddamned rich.
It works like this. Adamantium cannot break Uru, Uru CAN break adamantium, but Uru cannot fuck with vibranium, which can destroy both Uru and adamantium. Though Thor's hammer's strength rests more in the magic spells Odin infused it with, not the actual Uru itself.

the only other metal which even rivals uru and adamantium is carbonadium (dont trust my spelling) the stuff omega reds coils and body armor is made of. adamantium is only able to scratch it, and then it can automatically regerate itself., so its as if adamantium never even touched it.

carbonadium
Eh, I can't spell it either...but it's effectively negated from the "metal race" because the formula to make it was lost...Omega Red, I believe, is the last "specimen" walking around...
And as for "Hulk vs. Thor", I've always picked Thor. The guy's a God, and has a history going back a few thousand years as being a drunken bezerker warrior. Both are "class 100" (Mommy, WOW! I read my "Offical Handbook to The Marvel Universe" now!), so it's pretty much anyone's guess...

Y'know, I'm blanking on this, but I'll bet it was just the Kingpin...it was some hack writer throwing it in after Miller had left...Bullseye was left paralyzed after killing Elektra, and someone funded the adamantium process. But whereas Wolverine had the metal infused INTO his bones, I think Bullseye's are just coated with the stuff. Now how this "repairs" a broken spine, I have NO idea...

The Japanese crime lord, Lord Dark Wind(Lady Deathstike father) gave bullseye the adamantium, because he wanted an unstopable killer. he leaves dark winds service and later ends up with Kingpin. then Lady Deathstike underwent the proceedure to replace bullseye.

If you're going for just pure strength, I'd have to go with the Hulk. The more injured he gets, the angrier he gets, and the stronger he gets. Plus, the gamma radiation is effectively a cancer to him, constanly regenerating his body: he "heals" at a fantastic rate.
But if you want to be cheap about it, Thor could just teleport them both to Asgard and have all the other gods help him kick the Hulk's ass if it came down to it.

I dug that issue.
I know some Wolverine fans who hated it, cause of the royal ass-beating Wolvie took, but it didn't bother me. That's pretty much exactly how I'd imagine a fight between Castle & Logan going down.
Vibranium seems to be mined only in the Black Panther's African country, and it's how he's so goddamned rich.
If memory serves, it's cause Vibranium is mined from an asteroid that landed in Wakanda (and only in Wakanda).

Because Adamantium is rare and difficult to form. I've always wondered how an indestructible metal could be cut and melted to form anything. The very nature of a indestructible metal suggests a material that is impenetrable by modern metal shaping and cutting techniques. There's a lot of these illogical loopholes in comic books...for example Superman's Costume...the threads were supposed to be indestructible yet Ma Kent was able to sew a costume for her son with no problem. (why did she make the costume so fucking gay anyway...I guess it's a mother's responsibility to dress her chilren in the most ridiculous getups imaginable)
Besides, Iron Man sucks. He's not a real superhero. Any dipshit can build himself a super suit with blasters and shields. Tony Stark was a pussy without the suit and everybody knew it.
Which brings up another point? Fantastic Four. It's like everyone's character names made sense except for Reed Richards. The Invisible Woman was invisible, the Human Torch was a human Torch, the Thing was an inexplicable rock creature...shouldn't Reed be Stretch Man? Why are YOU Mr. Fantastic, and what a fucking gay name to pick for yourself. "I'm Mr. Fantastic...waoooOooooOO!" And the ego calling his team the Fantastic Four! What a vain douchebag.

I hate to disagree with you Mojopin since you have a great track record. There are two different types of Vibranium; Wakandan vibranium which absorbs energy, and Savage Land vibranium which emits energy.
uru is forged by gods and adamantium is made by humans.
Uru naturally occurs in the Asgardian dimension.

There's a lot of these illogical loopholes in comic books...for example Superman's Costume...the threads were supposed to be indestructible yet Ma Kent was able to sew a costume for her son with no problem.
The bullshit explanation they came up with was that it was due to Superman's skin.
Superman himself is damn near indestructable; therefore, any material (i.e. cloth) that fits snugly against his skin sort of leechs onto some of that invulnerability. Therefore, Superman's tights don't rip or tear.
Silly, huh? But that's comic books for ya.
Besides, Iron Man sucks. He's not a real superhero. Any dipshit can build himself a super suit with blasters and shields. Tony Stark was a pussy without the suit and everybody knew it.
I disagree. Not only is Stark one of the most intelligent mortals in the Marvel universe, but the power levels on that suit are supposed to be insane. He's supposedly strong enough to basically take on - and out - some of the heaviest hitters, such as the X-Men.

I think you're getting things mixed up. Cap's second shield (The first round one) was given to him during WW2 (By Roosevelt himself, natch) and it was made of adamantium, or at least an adamantium composite. He was given the Vibranium/Adamantium shield in the late 70's/80's (Not sure of the date), and Vibranium itself only started showing up in the Marvel Universe in the late 70's, at least five years after adamantium was introduced. The reason he was given the composite was because his adamantium shield was either lost or destroyed, so they built him something stronger. Even today it's not just vibranium. The latest model is still a mix of the two metals.
