Reasons are simple. First of all there is way too much of it. Do we really need news at 4:30, 5, 5:30, 6, 6:30, 10, and 11? Is there a need for 4 hours of news, and thats not including the morning ones, nor the ones at 11:30 am and noon? I say hell no, we don't need that. Free up all that airtime and create some decent programming.

The second irritation is not only do they all have the same news but the same news AT THE SAME TIME! They have the same pics, the same quotes, essentially the same story.

Oh and lastly the weather. Naturally we all know that they are hardly ever right. But do we need the barometric pressure, the humidity, or the wind speed? Just give the temperature for now and the weather for tomorrow.

The bombardment of the news (not to mention the 24 hour news) is a big reason why TV is in a sad state now. It marches ahead in quantity and loses greatly in quality. Oh and when was the last time ANY of the news was good news or at the least not depressing?

I agree. Notice how big reality TV has become and how it seems the news spins their stories and BREAKING NEWS as "reality". Our media propegates fear. After I heard NBC 10 in Philadelphia proclaim that their news is "Where the ACTION Is at 11:00" is made me think, Is this news or drama show? Whatever happened to reporting the "news"? Good or bad. Let us know what is up and go from there. Don't speculate and turn it into your own opinionated brainwashing. NO! Give us the news! WE WANT THE TRUTH! I had a discussion similar to this with DC Reed earlier and as with the High Rise drama in Philly on Wednesday, here is what happens:
First news station there IMMEDIATELY broadcasts. The advertisers look to that channel first and therefore gives them the lucritive contracts to their product. Hence, news = money. We should be informed, not sold out.

I enjoy the irony that most US media is about as objective and balanced as Pravda.

Network news isn't news...it is about the same level as a tv show. And they are for ratings...nothing more.

The only TV news I watch and take seriously are those brodacast off the BBC. Everything else is a joke.
