I've been known to dabble in this...i was wondering how many of you do also and what i would really like to do is to discuss people's thoughts on who they think is a good bet for that particular day...like for instance i feel that the knicks can stay within 7 1/2 points of the pistons tonight...anybody else

i like the "2game tease", Phila from -4 to +2 and Titans from -7 1/2 to -13 1/2
Tampa needs to obtain "home-field" throughout the playoffs if they want to beat the team Phila has now... Tampa has improved but Phila has improved even more and Tampa beat up on a SanFran team that had nothing left after the Giant game...
Tennessee has won something like 11 of their last 12 and Oakland will not get up 21-0 with 2 kickoff returns in this game.
one thing though: gambling does not pay, except for the people your gambling with...
have fun but don't get in over your head! :)
Oh Yeah, and Good Luck!

i bet on the two teams thatll be left standing at the end of every seson in baseball, basketball, and football. but even if i dont get win, my bookie lets me just bet on the winner of chamionship.
for football i bet on the buccs to win the superbowl at 10-1.
and i bet on the mavs winning the championship too.

well, i have been doing this long enough to have made some rules for myself...
1) never bet on or against your favorite team
2) never bet a game because of what time it starts (for example: there are some saturdays for college football that i will just bet the hawaii game just to have action (i have disciplined myself not to do that anymore) and, finally, the most important rule....3) do not bet a game because it is on national TV...ill tell you why and the other nite it happened....These television schedules come out well ahead of time and the bookies and oddsmakers know that people gamblers love to watch and agonize over thier bet...so what this causes is a lot of screwy things can happen especially in the over/unders...they can get to the refs and tell them to call a bunch of fouls in the game to get the score up (in that case they put the o/u on the game really high) Two nights ago in the Duke/virginia game...the o/u was 167 which is really high...i think they set a record for fouls and the final score was 104-93 very, very high...there are other rules that i have but i am not so sure anyone really cares
Knicks plus 7 1/2 run to the bank

I like betting on football because almost every game is important. There's too many meaningless games in the baseball/basketball/hockey seasons
Don't be fooled by the Rocks that I got, I'm still Jimmy from the block.

they can get to the refs and tell them to call a bunch of fouls in the game to get the score up (in that case they put the o/u on the game really high) Two nights ago in the Duke/virginia game...the o/u was 167 which is really high
the gamblers conspiracy theory...cracks me up everytime. 167 is a decent over under for a Duke game. If its a blowout they score over 100 and the other team around 70 and if its close most of their games end up in the 80's.

conspiracy theory??? its kind of funny that people don't believe that type of comment...bookies (the bigger ones) get information and they set up what they call 'wise guy' accounts with other smaller bookies in these accounts they get players(gamblers) to bet a large amount of money on what they know...for example, i made a ton the other night in the duke game...the real line on that game when the day started was 157.5...and that's what a lot of people had it at..but i have a number of bookies for this reason...when i heard from the one which i know is a larger operation, they had it at 167, and the smaller one had it at 157.5...i knew something was up so i bet over 157.5 with the smaller one...i win
so take that in your piehole

sometimes you just have to step in doo-doo...
i had the under on the Bucs-49ers game at 39 1/2...
they had 34 by halftime so i figured it was a loss... they only scored 3 in the 2nd half...
to me the reality is if you just make a straight bet with the spread then you have a 50/50 chance... It's either gonna be at least a point over or at least a point under... if you tie it's a push BUT! It is uncanny, amazing, confusing, how over a long period of time how often you wind up on the losing end...
if you start playing parlays,
then you are changing the 50/50 chance and begin to lower your odds...

The NFL has been so rough the last few years. I used to always either run, or be in a pool every week where we picked all the games. I was usually around 3,4,5 games over 500. Now, so many upsets and I can never get a real feel for whos really hot and who sucks. Just take the dog as far as NFL bets go...esspecially AFC games.

well, what can we say about this weekend other than Oakland is one hell of a team and the Bucs defense might be just that damn good
As for my personal battle, the weekend turned around with two big winners in college basketball...everyone's opinion's were so mixed that i just watched the football games thank the lord....i think i might have went with philly...Thanks for the feed back and feel free to post more predictions
