I figured I would go the high road here and start up this thread. I can not possibly be the only person here who appreciates these two fine voices. I would start seperate threads for the both of them but most people associate them so closely it would be a waste of bandwidth.

For those of you who are not familar with Mr. Bocelli or Ms. Brightman fire up Kazaa and download "Time to Say Goodbye" and enjoy the greatest voice this side of Tuscany.

To the fans, what's your favorite song? I'll go the easy route and take his Ave Maria.

Lightweights. Give me Domingo over Bocelli anyday. As for Brightman, nice voice, got lucky when she married Andrew Lloyd Weber. Just my "opera lovin'" opinion. See you at The Met with my cooler of Zima.

Allow me a few thoughts. As un-p.c. as this is, Bocelli is only famous because he is blind. He is a novelty. My wife, is an opera singer with the Met. and she and all her friends find his voice amateur. Sarah Brightman was great, but for some reason has lost it.

A novelty? The album "Bocelli"(93) went anywhere from platinum to sextuple platinum everwhere it was released. Romanza(97) went multi-platinum everywhere, and Sogno has gone at least platinum everywhere as well.

Lucciano Pavorotti, Caterina Caselli, and about 50 million people worldwide beg to differ with you.

Bocelli is as pedestrian as they come. Not a bad vocalist by far, but about as average as you can get. The "blind theory" is so true...nine times out of ten, if someone buys one of his albums in my store or are browsing them, people will say something like "oh, and he's blind, too! It's so amazing!"

Could that be she sounds like fingernails being scraped down a blackboard/chalkboard whatever you call it here.

George Shearing an amazingly talented jazz pianist used to become infuriated when the fact he was blind was ever mentioned. He felt his talents should stand on their own.

"I prefer being called a pianist, I just happen to be blind"

So album sales are the new gauge for talent? Well then, I guess Hanson, New Kids on The Block, Brittney, Rico Suave, and Tiffany are the greatest singers of all time. Who Knew?!?!
For christ sakes, album sales have nothing to do with talent. That was a ridiculous post.

:sigh:
I hate having to explain a post to the retards.

Moron. Read the post, I quoted a post that calls Bocelli a novelty, that is when I discuss that he has gone multi-platinum several times over the span of a decade, thus making him decidedly NOT a novelty, I never once in that quote said his record sales make him talented. Don't defile my thread with your nonsense.

Easy now little fella.....You defile your own thread with the obvious ignorance of a Bocelli fan...NOVELTY is defined as follows: "new or unusual occurrence." So surely with the overwhelming number of famous blind operatic tenors, Bocelli could'nt be an unusual occurrence, now could he? You Sir, hold more value in popularity than talent. Every word you type simply proves my point.

You are so completely laughable...you call me a conformist? I conform to an established practice? I believe, little fella, that my words have proven otherwise. My Websters isnt a factor here, my education is, dim bulb. Also, I do love the very fact that to defend yourself against my last reply to your thread, you decided to take the same stance I have taken all along. Nice defense. Keep changing your argument until it is mine. HA! HA! HA! Man 'o Man, if ignorance is bliss you must be the happiest MO' FO' on earth. Thanks a lot Little buddy. From now on, remember that is better for you to not open your mouth and remove all doubt of your ignorance.

I used to love Sarah Brightman and I will still pop in her CD from time to time. She has such great control and fluidity in her voice... but I can't watch another "in concert" - they are starting to get weird now....haha. Anhywho...
