HA HA!!!! YOUR OLD!!!

Will Smith Axed by Record Label

US superstar Will Smith has been dropped by his record label Sony, because he's too old. The music giants have decided that, at 34, the multitalented Summertime hitmaker is past it as an artist - and told him to concentrate on his movie career. Smith, who first appeared on the US music scene in the late 1980s - as one-half of rap duo Jazzy Jeff And The Fresh Prince - became one of the most successful hip-hop artists of the 1990s selling more than 20 million albums worldwide. He was also credited with making rap respectable, through his inoffensive non-violent lyrics. But Smith has always divided his time zig-zagging between successful music and acting careers. And, even though he became part of the Hollywood A-list - progressing from TV debut The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air, to the Tinseltown big-time with movie hits Independence Day and Men In Black - Smith has always returned to music, last year releasing a Greatest Hits Album. But his latest LP bombed - and now Sony have decided it's time to let him go. An industry source tells British tabloid The Sun, "It doesn't matter how big a star is, if they don't sell records they get dropped. Will has had a lot of success selling records but that time has passed. People aren't interested in him as a musician any more. He is big in movies and has obviously sold a lot of records on the back of that, but the demand for his rap projects has dried up. I think he accepts that he's not the force in hip-hop he once was. Will has had a good innings and there are no hard feelings."

Does this mean we can no longer be jiggy wit' it? Dammit, I knew from the moment he stopped being the Fresh Prince and moved out to Bel Air that there would be nothing but trouble. You can take the playa out of tha ghetto, but ya can't take the ghetto outta the playa...see, now I'm gettin all emotional... :)

Wills Smiff jumped the shark when he started doing songs titled after his movies. At least after Wild Wild West he learned his lesson and didn't try one for Ali.

And after MIB 2, is he still an A-list actor?

Good. After that weak, sorry ass attempt at tryna bring his wife into the game with that last song, he deserved to get dropped. (The Rock should take a lesson here.) Not everyone can be a double threat and succeed. <P>

Money-wise? Probably. As awful and boring as that film was, it still grossed well over $100 million...

190 Million. One of the top ten movies of last year. Bigger opening weekend than the original, if memory serves.

This is good news I was getting tired of that guy. The only bad thing is now he will make his kids get into the music scene and write shitty songs for them to nod their heads to.

in west philadelphia born and raised, on the playground is where he spent most of his days...

chillin out nice and relaxin all cool he was shootin some b-ball outside of the school...
when a couple of guys who were up to no good started making trouble in his neighborhood...
he got in one little fight and his mom got scared and said "you're moving with you auntie and uncle in bel-air...
he whistled for a cab and when it came near the licence plate said "fresh" and there were dice in the mirror...
if anything he could say that this cab was rare but he thought naw forget it, "yo homes to bel-air!"...
he pulled up to a house about seven or eight and yelled to the cabbie "yo homes smell you later" looked at his kingdom he was finally there, to sit on his throne as the prince of bel-air

Sadly, he's another in a long line of actors (Eddie Murphy, Adam Sandler, Jim Carrey...) who make popular genuinely funny movies, get full of themselves, and aren't funny OR entertaining anymore.
