1"-3"!?!?!? Call in the national guard!
As some of you may know, I am down in the DC area for work. Being bored as fuck, I am watching a lot of TV. Every other commercial reminds the viewer to stay tune to the news for the latest on the "big" storm! So I watch, and it turns out it's barely gonna blanket the ground. Ugh. Take of the skirts.

It's pathetic.
I'm from Chicago, and the piddling snowfall we get here is absurd, yet at each mention of the CHANCE of snow, people hit the stores for supplies and start staying home from school and closing businesses.
And the driving is awful if the snow does hit. They drive either 12 miles an hour or act like the snow isn't even there. THEY DON'T EVEN BRUSH THE SNOW OFF THE TOP OF THEIR CAR. I feel like I'm going to be killed by a chunk of frozen snow off of someone's car roof...fuckers.

Has the snow EVER kept people in their homes for more than like 5-10 hours TOPS as they clear the roads?
Come on people. It's not gonna kill you, just inconvience you for like half a day tops.

What Mojo said.
Growing up in CT prepared me for winter driving. I've been here 14 years and I'm still amazed every winter by the pussification and stupidity of DC drivers.

i have to agree.... i've lived here for about 15 years now. just before the first snow of the season, people began driving like assholes about 5 hours before the snow even started. you'd think it was about to start raining down sulpheric acid the way people were stocking up on essential supplies and scurrying back to their burrows. poor stupid bastards, they just dont know any better. but thank god they all drive ford excursions and caddy escalades, so when they're driving through the snow at 50 mph... they plow right through the rest of us who drive normal sized cars when they crash into us.
Who's love is it?...It's Drty's Luv

It kills me how freaked out everyone gets. The panicked masses run to the Stop 'n Shop and hoard bread, milk, eggs. It reminds me of what Lewis Black said about how everyone in NYC panicked when we had that HUGE snowstorm in 1995:
"New York City is the cultural and financial capital of the world. Don't you think they'd come get us?!?!"
Or something like that.

I think they feel intimidated by the looming, Mormon Temple over the Beltway.
It's kinda pretty in an eerie sort of way, especially on a foggy night. . .
I grew up in the mountains in Northern NJ and 1"-3" is NOTHING. NOTHING. I remember storms where the snow reached hip-depth. . . of course I was barely 4' tall then, but it was a LOT of snow.
Sheesh. Get over it.

They are pathetic. They don't have ice scrapers they use their kitchen brooms or their credit cards to get the snow and ice off of their windshields.
As Mojo mentioned before they either drive 12 miles an hour or they are going 70 -80 with about 4 feet between them and the car in front of them.
Thank you Ron and Fez for finally being live in DC again.

But don't they do that when it's clear, too? What's the comparison you're trying to make?

You are right they do that when it is dry, but at least when it is dry you have a little better chance of not crashing into the car ahead of you instead of being on snow and ice and you have no chance in hell of stopping.
There are so many idiot suv drivers wrecked on the side of the road down here.
Thank you Ron and Fez for finally being live in DC again.

I live in D.C. but am originally from Albany and its pretty funny to watch peoples reaction on snow.
NO one can drive in anything more than 2 inches here.
The bonus is that I'm gonna get a 4 day weekend..NO SCHOOL!!!!

Satcam: As a matter of fact, I was watching Fox.
Knicks23: I went to school in Albany, and unless it snowed a foot and a half, no one gave a shit.
It is 9:50. The snow is here. The apocalypse has begun.

I was the closing at my store tonight, and my staff starts freaking out by nine PM over the snowfall, almost "demanding" to know when we were going to close.
I made everyone stay about half an hour longer than we had after closing because of that. Assumptive little sacbites.
And then, out off a staff of 12, only THREE (Myself included) of us have ice scrapers in our cars during the dead of winter...WHEN WE'VE HAD THREE SNOWSTORMS ALREADY THIS SEASON?!?! Yaaaaargh...
Eh, I jest, I work with good peoples. They're just cowards.

DC gets 1-2 inches of snow at most and there are 2 hour delays and some cancellations.
Pathetic.

You are so right! I am from South Florida originally and moved to DC five years ago. I have never seen people react they way they do here. We get a slight dusting of snow, and the school system shuts down! And the driving...don't get me started... .

i don't know about you but the people that piss me off the most are the ones that pull off to the side of the road...what are these people thinking...they are just another hazard on the road...What, are they waiting for the snow to accumulate more than it already has or are they just gonna wait until the salt and scraper crew comes out...dumbasses

I can't argue. It's like we can't tell the difference between snow and anthrax. And who's the first to take the day off when a flake drops? Congress. I guess the hookers don't get to take snow days.

I turn on the TV this morning and across the bottom I see school cancellations. "Wow" I think, "it must have snowed more than I thought." But when I go to the window, THERE WERE PARTS OF THE CONCRETE NOT EVEN COVERED WITH SNOW. What a joke.
