Last weekends garage clean out netted a gallon of "Fabulon". Seems to be a forerunner to polyurathane, for woodwork.

I'm sure my dad still has bottle of Naval Jelly with a picture of Rodney Dangerfield on it.

This is kinda off the subject, but it's old school:
Does anyone remember when you had to get your TV tubes "tested?" This was in the late 60s, early 70s. My dad would take out TV tubes to Radio Shack to get tested. I remember the machine.
God I'm old.

their used to be a solvent called Varsol... it was strong stuff and you would bring your gallon jug to the local hardware store for a fillup...
one time we roofed our apartment house, my brother wore shorts and got a bunch of tar on his legs...
smartypants decided to pour a bunch of this stuff into his bathwater...
needless to say he still cringes when he hears "chestnuts roasting on an open fire"

naval jelly just blows. There are other better rust inhibitors out there. I use neadsfoot oil in my baseball glove, a quart of Marvel Mystery Oil about 500 miles before an oil change, Plastic Wood to fill nail holes, Aqua Net to keep my dial cords from slipping, a Heathkit tube tester, a Cricket transistor tester, Simple Green to clean the engine compartment, K-Y as needed...

Wow, another mystery cleared up. I always wondered when Marvel Mystery oil gets used.

Try Lucas Oil products, its like a new oil extender that really seems to work and has that old fashioned look of something from the 60's. I also order alot of stuff from this catalog called The Vermont Country Store, it has alot of retro stuff!
