What about the voice of Geddy Lee?
How did it get so high?
I wonder if he speaks like an ordinary guy?

i dont know about geddy lee's voice, but he and the rest of rush should really just be sat in a room, made to sit facing the corner, and to think long and hard about what they've done. they should be ashamed for subjecting us to such crappy music.

Oh, I have to disagree with ya on this one. Yes, just like any other band, they had some bad albums ( Roll the Bones rap fiasco ), but overall these three multi-talented guys put out some awesome music. Maybe Rush's power trio "progressive" rock style is not your first choice. I must admit that when I first heard Geddy's voice I did not like it, but like fungus it grows on you, and I couldn't imagine any other voice on Rush tunes.
Alex Lifeson combines classical chords with power chords, Geddy Lee can play bass with one hand, keyboards with the other, operate foot pedals and sing at the same time, and Neil Peart sounds like a one man marching band. Rush is truly one under-rated band.

Rush seems to be one of those bands where either you love 'em or hate 'em. I'm a huge fan although I will admit they have made some sub-par albums.
I'm so broke I can't afford to pay attention.

Early Rush featured a lot more of Geddy's "banshee vocals" but he toned it down by the time of "Hemispheres" as Rush became a lot more radio-friendly.

I play bass. Unless you're just plucking the five (or however many) strings, you cannot play bass with one hand.

Geddy Lee is God.
Neil Peart is a lyrical God.
Just my two cents with no real point.

hi ari :)
I'm a huge Rush fan. And yes, Geddy developed a deeper register as theyir style changed (hell, he barely does falsetto now).
But I also happen to be a fan of Pavement...

Yes you can, and I've seen him do it live. He used his left fretting hand.....you can hammer-on and then hold the note, and the note will ring out, and you can slide up to another note without actually picking the string. The amps will do the rest. He used his right picking hand to play a keyboard ( while stepping on foot pedals and singing ).
Granted, he did not play like this all night long, but on certain small passages thru the set he did. Truly an impressive sight.

the last album with synthesizers on it was 91's Roll the Bones
"I Love You Man" was on this past weekend. It touts the awesomeness of Rush in that movie. Therefore, it's a great movie.

I cracked up when Segel tries to correct Neil on the proper pronunciation of "Peart"

Faves so far are "Caravan" (love the new mix!), "Clockwork Angels", "Headlong Flight" & "The Garden"
Also looks like it's gonna debut at #2 on Billboard this week, just under the new one from Usher. Not bad at all, and if I'm not mistaken, their highest charting of their career!:smoke:

I'm going to see Rush for the first time this year. I'm psyched.
I saw them for the first time in years on the Time Machine Tour last year in Baltimore. They still kick ass live.
My biggest compliment is that in concert, Rush can play every song note for note. My biggest complaint is that in concert, Rush can play every song note for note. However, they have been mixing it up in recent years.
