With pro baseball almost closing the house on Minn Twins, the Montreal Expos, and the Florida Marlins and hockey having the Ottwa Senators going bankrupt this week why doesn't the NBA pay attention.
I just don't get it.. they move the Charolette Hornets out the state cause no one went to the games and this was a playoff team.. Now they go and give the ok for a new team to go back to charolette..

From what I heard the fans weren't the problem it was the ownership that sunk the Charlotte team.. The fans stopped going when they got sick of management fucking the team over.. Getting rid of good players and not bringing in guys to replace them.. The also wanted a new area eventhough the Hornets nest was only like 8 years old and they wanted the city to pay for it..
So David Stern got the team out of there and to end that problem and now they have a new owner that will care about the team...Plus the new team will generate more revenue for the league.
-----------------------------
Plus NBA teams have so much more revenue as compared to baseball teams or hockey teams espcially.. Canadien hockey teams have the problem with the exchange rate so the payrolls are in the stratosphere(in Canadien money) or the better players stay away.
------------------------------
Also the NBA has a salary cap eventhough it's kinda of a joke.

Personally, I could give a rats arse where the Hornets play, but in defense of the Carolinas, I think it had more to do with a conflict between the Owner of the team and the City of Charlotte, the resulting alienation of their fans (yeah, they stopped going to the games after the owners kept threatening a move, but who can blame them?), and the amount of caysh put up by the city and a spanking new arena in Nawlins that led to the move.
The Carolinas will always be primarily a hot bed for college basketball (UNC, Duke, NCState, etc.) but only a decade ago the Hornets led the league in attendance. I think after the way their fans were treated, they deserve another crack at a new franchise.
Of course I am biased, having been a Browns fan and living through the nightmare of Art Modell and his moving the team to Baltimore... even though there were others who felt for the old Colts fans and the way they were treated by Irsay and thought Baltimore "deserved" another team... and again, just like the St. Louis fans who lost the Cardinals, and then turned around and got the Rams from L.A., and Houston losing it's team to Tennessee and then being granted a new franchise the first chance they got... these moves seem to keep cycling around and it seems that the Leagues keep trying to "make it up" to the fans when the owners decide to re-locate their teams.
The Senators though? I don't get this shit at all. Hockey is THE sport in Canada, and they've been a pretty damn good team the last couple of years and seem to have been drawing well. I hear they're blaming the difference in the US and Canadian currency and the exchange rate, but it sounds like shitty management to me. I wonder if they'll find someone willing to buy the team AND keep it in Ottowa, but if I had to guess, I'd say they'll end up in the States.
Indianapolis Senators anyone?

The NHL is having a lot of trouble. Most lately Ottawa and Buffalo.
Ottawa has the number one team in the east and they can't even pay their team. And it's not like they have a huge budget.
The problem with the NHL is ticket prices are way too high. Now lets look at the Bruins; when they were the number one team in the NHL earlier this season they had one sellout total.
So many empty seats from front row, to premium to balcony. The problem is the ticket prices are way too high. If they just lowered them a little they would make their money back by having a full house.
All the teams in Canada minus Montreal and Toronto are in huge trouble. Get ready for more teams leaving the north.

people in the carolinas care about football and racing that is it...

I spent about 6 months down there a few years ago. I'd rate it NASCAR 1st and College basketball 2nd - Duke, UNC and Wake Forest are almost like religions down there.

As to your main point, I think the existing sports team owners get wood when they think of the new franchise money and only worry about diluting the product after they get tired of rolling around nekkid in the benjamins.

The problem with the Hornets was ownership and getting a facility to play in. It's sad to see this happen to the Senators. I really hope Canada can hang on to their teams. If something does happen to the Senators, however, look for a Pacfic Northwest team owned by Paul Allen.
