One of my best friends and I both like the same guy. I think he likes her, but if he asks her out she won't go out with him because she knows it'll hurt me. I want her to be happy and go out with him if she wants, but i DO like him too and want him for myself. Any advice as to what i should do would be gratly appriciated.

Do a threesome with him. Then everybody's happy.
Seriously, discuss it with her, and decide on a common course of action. Right now, she sounds like a better friend than you.

You should talk to your friend and work something out. You should let her go out with the guy if he likes her, there's plenty of fish in the sea.

You're going to let a guy come between you and your friend?
Is she the kind of friend who has the potential to be a shoulder to cry on if/when some jerk dumps you? If so, then your friendship is worth more than some guy.
The truth is, guys come and go, so do friends, but it's harder to find a good friend than it is a nice guy. If given the option, having learned from my past mistakes - I dated a former best friend's ex-boyfriend. . .lost both the friend and the boyfriend because of him - I'll take the friends over the guys any day of the week.
My roommate, on the other hand, and I are still friends to this day because she's been there to help me pick up the pieces of my broken heart and get over my bad relationships. . . and remind me that I have a social life outside of the guy I'm currently into. . . but maybe that's just me.

Just have sex with your friend and leave explicit and detailed posts including pics of the experience.

didn't we just have a thread on this...but instead of a guy, it was a boss?
anywho...you could always kill your friend.

if your friend likes the guy, and he likes her, i'd say let her have him. despite how you feel, if he likes her, you won't get with him anyway. so your friend might as well get a crack at it
i had this happen once. the guy asked my friend out, and she asked me if it was ok, becasue she knew i kind of liked him, as well. i told her that it was fine... after about 3 dates, he turned out to be insane and she absolutely couldnt stand him. heh, sometimes things just work themselves out

this was actually the conclusion i came to myself to, so thanks. i could like him until i was blue in the face and it wouldn't have mattered. so i told her to go for it if she wanted to.
