View Full Version : When did Bruce Springsteen stop rocking?
Back in the old days, he rocked. Now he is a whiny bitch.
Discuss.

"The Rising" is purty. But it ain't all that great.
I think he was finished after the spectacular "The Ghost of Tom Joad"...

To call him a rocker is to dismiss his finest work. Sure, he had some rockin songs (Rosalita comes to mind immediately) but his best stuff was slow and depressing.

I've seen Bruce from the beginning....I like when he told stories before each song in his early career. Bruce was never about rockin', he a storyteller. If he wants to rock....he still can even at 50+.

I have to agree. I'm confused about Bruce ever doing rock and roll justice. Besides, isn't Bruce Springsteen Rocking an Oxymoron? <P>

for some reason the word "Rockin" and Bruce Springsteen do not quite fit...
Usually associate "rockin" with alot of lead guitar, distortion, etc. The sax and tambourine seem to lighten it up a bit...
Adam Raised A Cain(?) Was the rockingest song i remember...
Although i love his stuff...
"Racing In The Street"
"The River"
And we go down to the river, and into the river we dive...

I started to loathe him this past summer when I was trapped in a small car and only allowed to listen to his music. Before that, I thought he was OK.

I've always thought Bruce was extremely overrated. Whether he's rocking or being a folkie, there are hundreds that do it better in both genres.

I think a lot of people are judging him by the studio work, which is not a fair estimate - his live stuff is so much more killer than what's contained on his albums.
Bruce is 55 years old - he can't bust out the stuff he did 20 to 30 years ago.
