Starring Ed O'neill and Ethan Embry. At 1st I said, no way will this work. But the more I hear/read about it, I'm looking forward to giving it a chance. Anyone else?

ed o'neil does not play such a bad cop he played one on a cbs show call big apple-which did not make pass one season. I'm willing to give the show a chance. But if it was William Shanter forget about it the show would survive

They also starred together in "Dutch.ah yes..Ari Meyers as a teenage prostitute. Nice! Lets not forget Ed's stellar performance as the former lead singer for the Disco Kings (now a police Lieutenant) in Ford Fairlane. "Booty time. Booty time, across the USA..." And as a bumbling NJ cop in Disorganized Crime. He's played alot of cops come to think of it. I think he'll be fine here.

Ed O'Neill played Popeye Doyle sometime ago so it's not like he's inexperienced in playing the role of a character made famous by another actor.

Don't forget about his stint as that 1-800-COLLECT phone patrol guy.

Dragnet
The Silver Slayer
60 min.
Debut: Jack Webb's classic series of the 1950s and '60s, far ahead of its time in its realistic and dispassionate depiction of police work, gets a new treatment by Law & Order executive producer Dick Wolf.
Some elements of the old Dragnet are intact: the terse just-the-facts dialogue; the names of the principal L.A. detectives, Joe Friday (Ed O'Neill) and his partner Frank Smith (Ethan Embry); voice-over narration; stories drawn from the headlines; and, of course, the celebrated (and much parodied) dum-duh-dum-dum musical theme. In the opener, the detectives track a copycat serial killer who leaves silver spray paint at the crime scenes.
Enjoy!

Anything Dick Wolf writes turns out to be good. As you can tell from LAW & ORDER and its 75 spinoffs.
