If Im thinking of the same show, it was on new years day at 8:00pm. About how the animals would look 2million years from now. I missed most of it and only caught the tail end. What I saw was kinda disturbing, the only animals left would be 2 kinds of land-roaming squid. One elephant sized kind and smaller tree-dwelling kind.

I don't know what those wacky scientists base this on, I have to see the entire show now.

the special was good but it was based on 50 million years in the future, then 100 million and finally 200 million.
The show wasnt bad and it was based on many scientists theory of evolution, and the equations involved in it. It was pretty good actually and it was basically the simpler lifeforms (birds and fish) that survived while the mammals died out. It was like a change from dinosaurs to humans back to a dinosaur type period

I haven't seen the show yet
but I can't believe that any
biologist would call fish and
birds a 'simpler' life form.

I also don't believe in land
roaming squid.
Land-roaming
cephalopods, no problem.
Molluscs are already a
huge and diverse phylum
that have both terrestrial
and aquatic forms. I'm just
waiting for flying snails!

when i said simpler i meant they adapted better---most birds are descendents of dinosaurs as well as most fish. They simply meant that those species would be able to adapt and change better then mammals

They made up really cool names for them too. I particularly enjoyed the quails who evolved their wings into digging tools and moved underground. I really really really wanna see what happened to the humans. We apparantly live in space, sending probes back to earth.

They had really cool names like "Snowstalker" and "Shagrats". There was even a "Reef Glider" (lol) and a huge city of floating jellyfish with sails and an army of sea spiders ready to attack and defend this huge transparant clump of futuristic jellyfish called the "Ocean Phantom".

it was stupid. it was as if junior high kids named the animals, the narrator was a bit too giddy, and some of the mutations were just ridiculous. if it was a bit more serious, in the tone of 'walking with dinosaurs', it would've been a much better show.
