most of the time i have to think a bit about who is the champion of this show or that show.don't get me wrong,it's not from a lack of watching(i don't miss a show),but i think having so many titles is watering down their meaning.back in the 80's you always knew who was champ and the title matches meant something.also, the i-c strap was a big deal, and now it's gone!the wwe needs to drop some wrestlers and some belts.

titles also meant something because they weren't hotshotted so quickly. You had year long title reigns as opposed to day and week long.

Ric Flair was a real fighting champion. Not only would he defend the NWA world title against top contenders in the NWA, he would go to the smaller territories like mid atlantic and florida just to name a few, and defend the title sometimes wrestling up to 3 times a day. He also went to japan and defended the title. Flair would sometimes wrestle up to an hour. I saw a match between him and barry wyndham that went to a 90 minute draw. Lets see if HHH could ever do that

Why can't they bring it back to the days of old when you were given the title and then you mad an entire career out of it, then handed it to the next up and comer, you wouldn't do it like today and have a title with an established career behind you.

I agree, titles don't mean shit anymore. A think a big part of it is that no one holds the belt for more than 2 months. The WWE needs a good long title reign.
Putting the belt on Benoit could give the SD! belt a good image. A first time champion who holds the belt for a good 6 months.

The first time I realized Titles weren't going to mean anything more was when the WCW World Television title was thrown in the garbage and "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan found it while portraying a janitor. He started defending it on WCW Saturday Night. Thats pretty much when you know they don't care.

Or...
Mideon: Hey Shane-O-Mac, can I borrow a belt?
Shane: Sure, check my bag.
That's how Mideon became European champion. Stupid!
