Which theory best represents your "Thinking?"

How would you justify its "Dilemmas?"

I guess "Cultural" would be what I fell closest to, but none of those descriptions really fit me. All I know is mysogony is back in a big way, yet I can't understand why.

the way that they describe it here, I guess that i'm a Materialist feminist. i've always scene the inequality of genders as a symptom of those in power controlling those without it. It goes back thousands of years. Woman, because they were the ones who propagated the tribe, were considered more valuable than the men (it only took a couple of men to keep the decendants going). The men went off to fight and hunt, the women stayed home. eventually, because the men wanted to make sure that their genes were the ones that got passed down, women became so "valued", that they became little more than property.

i'd have to say that i subscribe to something closest to a comination of both liberal feminism, and pro-porn artists and theorists... as described here, the ideas of equality for women under a civil rights-esque model seems about right to me. it seems that that's the main problem (if it still exists) women face, or at least have faced.

i agree with the pro-porn theory mostly because i think the anti-porn movement is ridiculous. it's that sort of thinking that holds women down. i will never be a proponent of censorship in any form, and i think a move towards more realistic representations of women is the way to go

i don't really consider myself a feminist at all, though. i understand where, decades ago, feminism was important and necessary. perhaps i'm naive, or have just been lucky in my life, but i haven't found much of a need for most of this fighting. i've never really felt that i was discriminated against because of my gender, or that i wasn't given the same opportunities that men were. i wouldnt go quite so far as to say that feminism is obsolete, but i think a lot of women these days cling to it as an unnecessary crutch used to explain away the things in their lives that make them unhappy

I'm not really into gender politics, just the same as I'm not a big racial politics supporter. It's all a calculated device that pits us against each other instead of the real 'enemies of the people'.

Don't put me in a box!

I read the descriptions in each of the nice, neat little boxes on this particular site, and have views that borrow from almost all of the points brought up.

Gender inequality has been tossed in my face by my own family - all my male relations on my mom's side find it to be their duty to inform me that because I am a "female" I will not amount to anything without a "Mr. Right". This irritates me to no end, so I take a "militant" stance in these cases because it's the only way for me to survive the argument.

In Anne Rice's The Queen of the Damned (THE NOVEL, NOT THE FILM!), the vampire Queen, Akasha, attempts to create a heanven-on-earth by slaughtering (or encouraging the women to slaughter) all the men in various pockets of the world. . . the theory is that women are more inclined to play nice and keep peace.

I can't envision a world without men. However, I can envision a world in which gender will not be the only merit/fault against which any one's achievements will be weighed.

How are we to best raise our sons and daughters to respect each others' differences and similarities? By segregating them? No, I don't think so.

How are we to introduce all children to all their potential? Insisting they study mediocrity? Or inspiring them to greatness through positive role models of any gender? I have looked up to Wonder Woman, Elizabeth Blackwell, Superman, Batman and Queen Elizabeth I for their amazing abilities to overcome obstacles. Do I feel limited by their genders? Not in the least.

Maybe my dad raised me the same as he raised his sons; encouraging my interests in science and technology, music and literature, philosophy, statecraft, history and strategy. I am a better person for this and hope I can do as well by my own children, if I choose to have any.

Like Arinette, I do not consider myself a "feminist", but I do share enough of the ideas to have the label thrust upon me.

Too bad. So many labels. . .

and, as BlackJeezis mentioned, these labels/sectioning distract us from who/where/what the big problems are. . . scary.
