Every now and then I see people who post or write and they add *'s between the letters and/or alternate between capitals and small letters. These people usually are young punk types. Is this some inside cool thing that kids do?

Well my theory used to be that people used the *'s to break up words that were pornographic. Like when I used to have AOL, some posts would say T*E*E*N P*O*R*N, and I assumed they did that cause those terms were blocked by aol. But i still see people write with the up and down letters and *'s even though the words are not objectionable, like s*K*a*T*e*R P*u*N*k*s or eMiNeM Is HoT....
