The sound of something going over someone's head...

Ever post something or write an obscure reference in a post or make a quip that you thought was funny only to see your rapier comment go right over the heads of someone (or perhaps they didn't even read it) or perhaps the reader just needed a little enlightening?

This is the thread of second chances.

You cut and paste a Whoosh comment here, sarcastic or otherwise, and see if anyone gets there reference.

If time goes by and no one explains, you explain it.

It is a pretentious, elitist topic of course, but, what the heck, it will provide an outlet for us narcissistic posters with delusions of grandeur who think we just may be funny sometimes.

I'll start with an easy one:

Now someone posts who "gets" the comment and then explains it (or posts their own Whooooosh comment).

Oh geez this wasn't supposed to make people feel stupid. There are lots of references I don't get and I usually have to IM someone and ask them what they meant.

Here's the explanation of my reference, and perhaps I shouldn't have used this one as an example, but it's just like people emailed me several times asking what I meant:

Lutheran Pride Thread:

RAHOWA is an expression used by white supremacists for White Pride (which I am not one) which stands for Racial Holy War. If you see someone on the street wearing this (or in jail with it tattooed on them) that means they are a KKK member or member of a White Supremacist group.

RAHOLA was a reference to this, therefore standing for, but ending with, Lutheran. Again it's a bad example, especially since I didn't use RAHOLU instead of RAHOLA.

I'm on crack right now.

But I got a thread going. Please someone save me with a better Whoosh example.

OK another example of a Whoosh from me.

In a post I mentioned that I placed a Vanish Yellow Lemon Scented Drop In in my toilet bowl and people emailed me and said they didn't come in yellow. And I'm like "that was supposed to be funny. Like they would make a Drop-In that makes your toilet water yellow!"

I believe it's a bit of a misnomer.

The complaint was that certain "fun threads (i.e.- "who loves who on the board", etc.) have not been showing up in the top-5 discussions list on the Home page. We wanted to know where the love went.

Am I right? Or did this one "whoosh" me, too?
