Variety Packs

OK - I have this thing. You know when you buy something in a variety pack? Like the flavored oatmeal or the little boxes of cereal multipack or the roll of different flavored Life Savers and there's always one kind that you don't like?

Like I buy the Quaker instant oatmeal variety pack but hate the regular kind. Or when I was a kid my mom bought the little boxes of cereal and the 100% Bran Flakes was always the last to go. Or I buy a roll of Life Savers and go right for the cherry, orange, lime, but hate the pineapple.

Do you have any examples of things you buy in variety packs where there's just that ONE BAD KIND???

The classic example is the red-headed stepchild of the confectionary world, the evil black jelly bean, but what really gets me is the cereal variety packs. To paraphrase Jerry Seinfeld, I don't like portion control, never have never will.

I always throw out the apple jacks, those are nasty.

Mix the fruit loops with the frosted flakes. It's the best!

When I buy a pack of those Neco wafers, I always throw out the purple ones that taste like Black Licorice. Or, I just buy the chocolate flavored ones.

See, I love the black jelly beans. What I don't trust are red jelly beans... I never know if it's going to be cherry or cinnamon (which I hate with a passion). At least with the Jelly Belly brand, most of the cinnamon beans are red with yellow speckles, but they still manage to slip in a few solid reds. <P>

According to a show I saw on Food TV "black" jelly beans are both the most and least favorite flavor when polls are taken.
