I JUST saw a report on this subject on some local NJ channel called CN8. It's channel 45 near me on Cablevision. The channel isn't important.
The report said that people close to Delaware are shopping there because Delaware doesn't have Sales Tax. So they were interviewing people from Jersey, Pennsy, Maryland and so forth.
But the REAL joke is that your state EXPECTS you to send the the appropriate ammount of sales tax to your capitol! They showed the NJ form for it. You're supposed to fill it out with all your info and the price, calculate the tax and mail it in.
Now the OBVIOUS question you have is: How will they know?
Well, the reported said that local states are trying to figure out ways to track purchases in Delaware. But it's gonna be hard for the smaller stuff.
They said the main things that get caught are large purchases.
This also answers a question someone on the board asked about saving money by going down to Delaware and buying a car. A LARGE purchase like that would definitly tip off someone, and your state would want the tax.
FUCK THAT!!!!!!!!
