i think he's funny and i watch the show, give it a chance. his stand up (like Kings of Comedy) is hilarious to me.

the only thing funny about Kings of Comedy is that these guys think theyre Kings of anything. I heard the name kings of comedy and i said oh cool--i wonder who'll be in it. Then thats all i said...WHO? I'll admit i didnt see it, but if i wanna see (5?) nobodies, I'll watch comedy central 1 night stand or something, not pay to see a movie.

The men in that movie(Cedric, Bernie Mac, DL Hughley and Steve Harvey) are far from nobodies and are considered by many to be among the greatest black comics of all time. That being said...

ew. Bill Cosby? Eddie Murphy? Richard Pryor? Hell even Martin Lawrence. These are Kings of comedy. They proved themselves over many years and became household names. These guys became recognizable because of this movie. and not really in a good way. Hell, if theyre kings of comedy, I'm going in tomorrow and calling myself Police Commissioner.

good point mojo. What were they supposed to dig up Richard Pryors corpse to do stand-up for the movie, or maybe some of Bill Cosbys biting jell-o comentaries will get people laughing.
These guys have paid there dues for a long long time, and your ignorance of them does not make it right t simply make base statements like if i havent heard of them then they arent good. Bernie Mac has been hilarious since the early 90's and only now is he getting the credit, same for steve harvey.
But i guess they just dont compare to the knee slapping comedy of Jeff Foxworthy.

The best black comedians go by the name of Pryor and Rock. Even by today's standards, I wouldn't make the mistake of calling them the Kings of black comedy, let alone comedy in general.

ok, b4 i become labeled a racist, I think mojo was the one to pull the race card. Not me. I'm not saying these guys arent deserving of an audience, but to be "pretty much" unknown in the entertainment world(better?) and call youself a King of Comedy. Thats what i find ridiculous. earn your stripes. let others call u a King. And i wasnt saying the movie in question shudda been done by the comedians i listed, just that if your looking for kings, there they are.

I wasn't calling you a racist, just stating the obvious. The comedians in the film had a very comfortable career that sidetracked pretty much most white "mainstream" attention. The film simply helped to open that avenue up, but it hardly "started" their careers or gave them their big break.

The whole point people are trying to get across is that these men WERE well established before the movie was filmed. Secondly, Spike Lee named the film, not the comedians. Besides, Steve Harvey is considered to have some of the greatest timing in the game.

Haven heard both the comedy of the four "Kings of Comedy" AND of Jeff Foxworthy, I can state that I believe the Kings are better.

I would imagine it would be hard to sell out an arena tour, like the "Kings of Comedy" did, if you were "pretty much unknown." Pretty much unknown to white audiences would probably be a better way to phrase that.

And while Spike Lee may be views by some as racist, he is nothing in comparison to John Singleton. That man HATES white people.

I've known John for a few years now, and without a doubt consider us friends, so unless he's planning on coming up and shanking me from behind when I'm not looking, he doesn't seem to have a problem with MY pale ass. I don't know him, and therefore can only base my opinion on his films. Take a look at his AWFUL shaft remake. There isn't a white person in that film with any redeeming qualities. Even his white friend is fuckin racist.

Nah, he just makes corny racist jokes, like Shaft does. The two obviously still get along and work well together.

Besides, the character of "Shaft" was and is the cinematic epitome of the strong BLACK man. We've got hundreds of movies each year with miles of dopey white people running around. Let Shaft be Shaft, dammit.
