The Replacements
One of the reasons to be glad you were alive in the 1980's.
One of the few things Al Dukes was ever right about.
I'm thinking there ought to be a thread here for concert reminiscenses, favorite lyrics and, for Chairman Kaga, MojoPin, Yerdaddy, HK, et al., discussions of the semiotics of Let It Be. :-)
Proceed at your convenience.
You're only young once, but you can be immature forever. :-)

This DID NOT GO UNNOTICED. It's just that there's so much to say and I just noticed this post now and it's 7:26 and I need to go to bed. So I am going to grab a pill, perhaps take a handful at my will, knock them back with something sweet and strong, and hope to at least get to Stage 3 sleep before the alarm rings...
Stay tuned. There may be only 5 of us. But 5 Mats fans can solve all of the world's problems.

I saw them in '85 when Bob was still in the band (and still alive!). He was wearing a green, filly tuxedo shirt and pantyhose. No underwear. I got to see Bob Stinson's nads!
My favorite band of all time!
Most cherished possession: a copy of Pleased to Meet Me autographed by Paul Westerberg (well, cherished also 'cuz of who gave it to me)! I got it framed with special UV protected glass.

freshman year 1985 went to Miller Hall and greeny my friend who i met at orientation has rolling stones review of tim on his dorm room door pasted there instead of all the other people who have those dry erase boards and at this time in my life im actually listening more to run dmc than staying on top of the insurgent music scene thats blossoming around me like yeast on some starter dough in a good italian bakery well actually that would be blooming. anyway i read the review and its like the best review ive ever read and greeny tells me i gotta listen and he pops in tim and from the first notes of hold my life im hooked and the mats are playing at the channel in boston and we go and we get there and there is paul westerberg at the bar drinking heinekins and greeny says that's paul! and we talk to him and he's shitfaced and really cool and i dont ever realize i have just met god

OK, now I have wood. All I have signed by him is the collectors "book" edition of 14 songs, signed "Here's to You." And I've seen Paul and/or The Mats 44 times. Paul signed it in the VIP room that I sneaked in to and Winona Ryder amd Matt Dillon were there cause they are HUGE Mats fans...

ok so after greeny and i talk to paul at the bar he disapears. and about 20 minutes later, paul, chris and tommy get on stage and they are shitfaced, as usual. and paul gets up and asks the crowd if anyone has seen bob? and everyone laughs, thinking he's joking and bob is going to come out wearing a shower curtain or dress or something. but paul keeps asking and everyone keeps laughing. so they just start playing, first with no lead, and then with a roadie filling in for bob. and after about 5 songs, someone from the club wheels bob out in a wheelchair. they found him in the bathroom passed out with an empty bottle of jack daniels. and they carry him up on the stage and put his guitar in his lap (he's still in the wheel chair)and make sure he's not dead and they keep on playing. and then during the song seen your video bob pukes on himself and gets up and just starts playing like nothing happened and plays like an ace for the rest of the show..
to be continued....
