View Full Version : The toy that got away
Everyone has one. The toy that they wanted so bad it made you dizzy to think about it. It was the one that was at the top of your Christmas list. It was the first thing out of your mouth when people asked you what you wanted for your birthday. But for some reason you never got it.
For me there were three. The first was the G.I. Joe Aircraft carrier. It was 7 feet long, it had all of these compartments. It even had a lift for the G.I. Joe fighter planes. My family just thought there was no room for it in the house. I'm still crushed.
The other two were both from Star Wars. The Millenium Falcon and the At-At walking tank from Empire. Since then my mother told me that she tried to get them but there were never in stock. But the therapist is saying that I may actually believe her again within the next year.

Millenium Falcon
Me too....but it didn't remain elusive forever...I got it when I was 15, after asking from the age of 8-13. So it's still in its' original box, opened only once, I don't think I even put all the stickers on it. It's probably half melted in my parent's attic.
...silent, but violent.

I had the Millenium Falcon and the AT-AT (both of which my parents tossed when I was in college).
Of course, now I collect Star Wars toys and buy all those old toys again now.

Yeah, well, this isn't the "My parents loved and spoiled me and took care of all of my wants and needs" thread. So go take your self-esteem and good self image somewhere else.

God DAMN it Hosp! All the therapy I went though to get rid of this trauma and in ONE POST you bring it all back.
I'm going to go to my parents' house and punch my father in the head.

One of my friends had that aircraft carrier! The best thing about it was how many different ways to disassemble it. I mean, I was always the one to play with toys and have them exhibit ''damage'' (by taking them apart). The aircraft carrier was so good to destroy!
Oh, the toy that got away from me was the Voltron I figure. I had Voltron III (the Lions), but I also wanted Voltron I (the 20 vehicles).
