Going to shows alone STINKS!

I love going to shows. I love to see bands I like play out. The only thing that stinks is either my friends have become shut-ins, incredibly lame or just don't want to experience a new band and they don't go with. So 9 times out of 10 I go to shows solo.

I love the chance of getting to see the band(s) play out but the thing that really stinks is not having someone there to share the experience with. Someone to comment on the drunkenness of the guitarist, how great the drummer might be playing or just the overall tightmess of the band. Now I am not exactly Mr. Social and approaching a group or even one person about the show when I am there feels awkward. Kind of like high school all over again. It certainly does feel odd being there alone. I feel like I am getting looked at like "Hey why is that loser alone?", "Is he a killer?" or something like that. Not that it matters what others think but the thought just goes through ones head.

I have even had times when I buy the ticket for a friend of mine to go but they back out at the last minute with a lame excuse like I am tired or I don't feel like it. In that case, don't accept the f-ing ticket and get my hopes up! Don't my friends like going out anymore? Have they all gotten old on me? Anyone else have this happen? I need a show buddy.

I sure as hell hope it HAS NOT come to that. As explained by themojopin's FOLLOW THE RULES OF ROCK OR DIE (I couldn't seem to find the link) that is the one thing I detest more than being at shows alone. It does get entertaining though just to look in disgust at the scum at most shows who are wearing THAT band or being the easily led atomaton who follows the current trend. VOMIT I SAY, VOMIT!

Who'd you go to see Fluff?


Mostly punk and hardcore bands and the occasional metal band. I wanted to show up at the show you guys did with vader but my car was shit and the going solo thing came into play. But no way in hell am I missing the Relapse fest (Mastodon, Neurosis and High On Fire) in Philly in January or Napalm Death in Philly in February. Those show I can chill upstairs and drink.
