Dear Users,

As some of you may or may not be aware, the site has been going up and down enough for it to be a distraction over the last couple of weeks. We have grown to the point where our database traffic is starting to affect server performance. Although we are hosted for free by the kind folks at OptimumISP, they are not willing to spend the money to upgrade the database server. I propose the following which should increase the performance of the site and take a little off the load of the database server:

If we implemented a 30 second delay in the updating of new messages and topics added to the site, we would dramatically increase site performance. What does this mean to you? If you post on our site, you will not see your new thread or message for 30 seconds.

Please vote by clicking the link below and letting us know what you think.

P.S.If 30 seconds doesn't work out, we can try a minute.

If you do a 30 second delay, I suggest you make it so that you can see an entire thread when you're replying like on most other message boards.

Just seems like a lot of posts are redundant because only the first post is viewable when you're replying to a topic.

I'd do that but some of our threads go on for 400 messages and it gets a little excessive.

Jeff, that's rare.

The threads that have that many replies are only responded to a few times a week anyway. Most threads top out between 25-50 replies, if that. If we could see the entire text of a thread, then maybe more people would be inclined to quote multiple members and have better discussions, rather than just throwing their opinion onto the pile and walking away.

Anyhoo, keep doin' yo' thang, number one, fun, happy, good times, webmaster dude.

you should rephrase the question for people like me who act before they think. i voted yes cause i thought the question was going to be something like "do you agree with the 30 second delay thing" or something then after i voted i read it again and it was are you against it so i'll have to revote tomorrow

Might fuck up board games like
PAYT and stuff. But aside from
that, i'd be cool with it. How 'bout
a 42nd Delay?

Whoops, I didn't read the question correctly and accidentally voted "yes." Oh well, looks like it doesn't matter so far as the "No's" outweigh the "Yes's" by a three to one ratio.

It takes most guys 30 seconds to run to the bathroom, unzip, pee, shake it off, zip, and run back just in time to get scooped by AngelAmy or Todd.... Hence, nothing drastic will change.

I say go for it.

dont you think deleting old threads would open up some room. I mean 900+ pages in off topic and i dont think very many of them need to be there. I believe that would save alot of room.

i agree with czm...you worded the question a little bit fishy so that impluse clickers like myself would click the wrong thing..

i think whatever is best for the site is the best for me...but at the same time if you guys are saying "it's only 30 seconds to wait" if it only takes 30 seconds to load your page what's teh big deal...

the site runs fine to me, and if it runs slow for others, this isn't going to change it agreat deal i believe.

yes this is a free site so do as you wish, but i think we're going to find alot of double posts and double threads and etc etc because of this horrific implemented rule..

and if you didn't have 900000000000000 pages of threads the site would run quicker as well..

hire me for 50 cents a day to delete those threads..kthx

your welcome

my point was that this will not change my life dramatically or anything...i'm not concerned that much to argue and act like it's the major problem in my life..but i wanted you to know i disagree with it

if it's necessary then that's the end of story..
