So, I am listening to K-rock at work and they just played one of the funniest new songs around called Whatever by Liam Lynch. If anyone wants to hear it, http://sifl-n-olly.com/rock/index.html and click on the Whatever song link number 3. Let me know what you think of it.

I know this is probably only exciting to me, but whatever.

It's AMERICA and men and women die for it everyday.

I would think that ESPECIALLY today we turn our backs on these art school FAGGOTS who make their little political statements on their albums.
GO play your guitar for the rocks in Armenia or some shit. Just stay out of the United States of AMERICA.

Go sit on the fence in France. Go be opressed in Iran. Go stand on a bread line in Russia. And while you're there, see what THEY do to people who speak out too much against the government. I'm sure they won't put you on in market #1.

Moe, it's not a band. It's not an album. It's a song performed by a pair of sock puppets. It came out a good three, four years ago. It's simply a puppet responding to each line of the song with, "Yeah, WHATEVAH." It's not politcal, it's not anti-America, it really doesn't have anything to do with America, except for the fact it was made IN America. Get off the soapbox.

Whatever

I went down to the beach and saw Kiki,
She was all like, eehhhh,
And I'm like, WHATEVAH!

And then this chick comes up to me,
and she's all like, hey, aren't you that dude,
And I'm like, yeah, WHATEVAH!

So later, I'm at the poolhall
And this girl comes up and she's all like, awww,
And I'm like, yeah, WHATEVAH!

Cuz this is my United States of Whatever
And this is my United States of Whatever
And this is my United States of Whatever

And then it's 3 AM, I'm on the corner wearin my leather,
This dude comes up to me and says, Hey Punk!
And I'm like, yeah, WHATEVAH!

Then I'm throwin' dice in the alley
Officer Leroy comes up and he's like, hey I thought I told you..
And I'm like, WHATEVAH!

And up comes Zafo, and I'm like Yo! Zafo, whassup?
And he's like, Nuthin.
And I'm like, that's cool.....

Cuz this is my United States of Whatever
And this is my United States of Whatever

That was pretty funny. It probably took those guys about 5 minutes to write it though.
If there was any kind of political statement there I missed it.

"I would think that ESPECIALLY today we turn our backs on these art school FAGGOTS who make their little political statements on their albums."

Wow. I can't believe the board is filled with such enlightened individuals. By art school faggots do you mean the Stones, Beatles, Fugazi, Minor Threat, Dead Kennedy's, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, and Woody Gutherie? These brilliant musicians have at one time or another written political songs. Now I know they don't compare to apolitical brilliance of Limp Bizkit, but let us give them some credit.

You call them "Art House Faggots". I call them the Talking Heads, David Bowie, Sonic Youth, and the Velvet Underground. Or better yet, how about just musicians!

If you ever even suggest that I'm a Limp Bizkit fan again, I'm gonna make you pay.

And you know what, a political song is fine. You're more than welcome to make some sort of statment, and don't try to turn this into some stupid censorship thing because I am no censor.

I dislike some bands that make their whole agenda political songs. That is gay, and they are ART SCHOOL FAGGOTS with bad haircuts.

Look at the goddamn stupid sock song. It's not political, and there are no haircuts to be seen, Cousin it.

But actually, where are all these all politics-all the time bands with the cool haircuts? They sound exactly like what I would want to hear...

Moe makes me sad when he gets indignant because he starts to sound like Eminem.

Are we including Rage Against The Machine and System of a Down in this category?

Where the hell is this thread going, anyway? Liam Lynch has never written a political song that I am aware of (unless you count Apple-Man for President). Are the politics you are concerned with about the empathetic nature of people? I guess this brand of humor is not accepted by some individuals. That's fine. Funny to me is not funny to you. Whatever! The song was bashed by the callers anyway. The show was cancelled 3 years ago. Liam has gone on to other things (directing Tenacious D's Tribute, writing songs for an upcoming MTV show. http://www.111productions.com) Let's move on to something else already.

EDIT: I do enjoy reading the views and opinions on both sides of the politics and music debate by members of this board. We should probably have a thread set up expressly for that. And Mojopin rocks! Thanks for posting the lyrics.

It's funny that this thread is about socks because socks go on feet and people here seem to like to shove their feet into their mouth over and over again.
