I think the worst gift is every year at work we each pick a name out of a hat and we have to buy that person a gift ,usally a $15- $25 limit. Every year I get a basket with some old lady smelling soap. like rose petal, with a sponge and some other nasty shit, and every year I donate it to church for the less fortunate.I also got the little christmas tree that sings and shimmies, what the f do you do with that?

How Dare You? It's not about the gift, It's the thought that counts!!!!!
JUST KIDDING!!!!! OMG.. I've gotten some really sucky Christmas Gifts, but once I started working, I was able to get myself anything I wanted. So corny gifts didn't bother me.
Anyway, they're great for re-gifting!

This pair of pants from some great aunt, they were like 5 sizes too small. It was like opening a gift that was supposed to be a reminder as to how out of touch we were.

Almost every year I get a damn blue jean denim button down shirt from my Aunt and Uncle. I don't really want to complain but I really hate these and NEVER wear them. Plus the fact that they run a clothing store and just order the shirt from their suppliers catalogs also takes quite a bit away from it for me.

It was almost like a bonsai version of an orange tree, but in a box (a stupid box with a little plastic window - like you'd buy a toy in or someting). It was supposed to bear little mini oranges, but it died before it had the chance.

Also homemade gifts. Yea Yea, I know, it's the thought and effort placed into making it, but it sure is cheap.

Once I asked Santa for a 'Batman radio'.
I asked Santa for a Batman radio. Saying that twice to make you wonder what the fuck it means.
I wanted a walkie-talkie, like I saw on the UHF reruns of Batman, but noooo...
I didn't know how to explain it, didn't know the term 'walkie-talkie', and Santa didn't know what the fuck I was talking about, so I got
... a radio shaped like Batman. I dunno where the fuck they found it, and I wish I knew what happened to it, but by God I got a Batman radio.
I remember the disappointment of that Christmas well. Santa is horribly literal.
I was FOUR, before you dismiss me as an ingrate. Well, even after you do, I was 4.
Where the fuck did they find little mostly-pre-verbal Me a 'Batman radio'?
And what did little ingrate Me do with it? It's long since lost
Grrrrr...

To give or receive? I like them because it means you neither give nor receive some crappy gift.

And gift certs/cards are cool, but Bloomberg has been saying check out the card before you buy it. Some of them devalue very quickly.

I once got a ticket to see CATS from my girlfriend's mom. Not a terrible gift if I was a big fan of theater, or a cat lover, or gay, etc. But it's a long-standing fact between myself & her family that I detest cats, in general (and don't exactly love the theater). Her cat lived with us for a month before we sent it home to her mom, etc...so it seemed like a slap in the face.
But what made it worse is that it was a matching...her mom gave her one ticket, and gave me the other. At least if she had given her both tickets, she could have taken someone else...I don't care if my gift was a pair of socks.
And the final indignity...I'm a January baby, so it was my Christmas & birthday gift. Hoorah!

Actually I think they are a great gift. And if you do not know the person that well you can get like American Express gift Certificates, so they can use them almost anywhere.
My worst gift was getting a gift certificate to a store where I never shopped before. JM towne. At the time I hated shopping and it appaled me to even to to the mall to buy clothing. (Hey i was 17 at the time so....)
Now...I appreciate almost any gift certificate I get.
